Open Season.

"This is my sworn testimony. White Plains officers are coming in here to kill me."

And moments later, 68-year-old Kenneth Chamberlain, Sr., a U.S. Marine veteran, was proven correct. Tasered and shot dead by officers from the White Plains, NY police department. Given how police officers across the country treat black Americans, whether suspects or innocents, he had good reason to fear for his life. Abagond reveals how the police department attempted to justify his murder, only for said justification to fall apart in the face of video and audio evidence.

That's the important difference between this era and the 1940s and 1950s. Had this crime happened in the latter, the police department's word would be taken at full value and Chamberlain dismissed as "just another crazy nigger who got what he got." Today, you have video and audio surveillance that constantly disproves such assumptions and sheds genuine light on the events that transpired. No wonder officers hate being videotaped or recorded (unless for an episode of "COPS").

Then there's the sad case of Rekia Boyd, an innocent bystander who was killed for "disturbing" an off-duty cop. Here too, did the police attempt to spin a story to justify the officer's actions. Too bad there were several eyewitnesses who saw things differently. There was even a lie thrown in that one of the people with Rekia had a gun. There was no gun found.

The common thread between the killings of Chamberlain, Boyd, Trayvon Martin, Oscar Grant and countless others? All were minorities who were assumed to be an automatic threat by overzealous and color-aroused cops. Yes, Trayvon was killed by a "neighborhood watch captain," but he had aspirations of being a cop, too. These were human beings who were deemed "threats" and declared fit for disposal, as though their lives and those of their families and friends meant nothing. To wonder why would mean ignoring nearly two centuries of America's racial history and the constant indoctrination and social reinforcement that causes white Americans to see their black American counterparts as their lesser, whether they realize it or not.

This is why black Americans automatically view police officers and other law enforcement officials, on-duty or not, with the utmost suspicion. Not doing so could mean a swift and tragic death. This is something most white Americans have the luxury of not dealing with.

The election of a person of color to the highest office in the U.S. has set off a genuine psychosis among those who view black Americans as threats to their own interests. Conservative politicians played off voters on this very issue. Militias have seen their recruitment numbers skyrocket because of it. Ordinary citizens lost their minds and revealed what they thought about their black American counterparts. Even presidential nomination hopeful Rick Santorum came perilously close to revealing his true colors.

Add up the above and you don't have to wonder if it isn't open season on black Americans.

Odds and Ends.

So far, this has been an interesting week. Not only did our political village idiots speak on President Obama's address on Trayvon Martin, but one particular idiot had the temerity to chastise a fellow House Rep. for standing in solidarity with the slain young man, by citing an obscure and formerly unknown (to the public) dress code forbidding hats, or in this case, hoodies. As Abagond dutifully noted, there's an ongoing media campaign to drag Trayvon Martin's name into the dirt. Apparently, having an empty ziplock bag is a surefire sign of criminality in some parts.

Meanwhile, its 2012 and a small group of village idiots thought it was 1928 all over again:

At least this guy got to wear bracelets, but a felony charge was too much to ask? I suppose if the black guy who stood up to this walking, talking symbol of cowardice and stupidity had brandished a weapon, he'd be cooling his heels in lockup, sans bail, with a felony charge right about now.

I'm still wrapping my head around the whole individual mandate and single-payer healthcare thing. I'm not that good with bullshit jargon, but apparently it's necessary to sneak any hope of having national healthcare a la Canada or [add sane country here], but with so many people ready to vote against their interests to the benefit of the healthcare insurance industry, I guess you have to sugar coat this pill to have any hope in hell of average Americans chancing a swallow. No telling how this will pan out in the Supreme Court.

"If I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon"

President Barack Obama weighs in on Trayvon's death and the ongoing investigation. Nothing further to add.

Does this look like a "little thug ghetto monkey" to you? No? Then chances are you're not a Fox News commentator. Behold the fountain of shit that spewed forth from the comments section of this article:

What a shame—a tragedy, really— because the dead lil’ gangsta could’ve used “‘A-FIRM-TIV AK-SHUN” to go to kollige an play footballz and make lotsa cash munny!”

Fast and Furious didn’t work to pass new gun control so now Eric Holder will try the race card.

No matter how crime figures are massaged by those who want to acknowledge or dispute the existence of a Dirty War, there is nothing ambiguous about what the official statistics portray: for the past 45 years a large segment of bIack America has waged a war of v i o l e n t retribution against white America.

Zimmerman was attacked by the man and defended himself with a gun. Zimmerman’s wounds were verified by police.

17 = child. LOL!!!!!!

Let the LIB word games begin.

Yet the “justice department” refuses to prosecute any voter intimidation that involves a blac k as the intimidator.

Why should anyone care about this kid? Because he is of color? People don’t value kids period. They are property. BTW, I am a conservative that cares a great deal about kids. We follow hundreds of cases each year, many white babies and children, none of them get attention. But he does??

Zimmerman felt threatened by Martin’s gang’s actions…this could have possibly lead to these terrible circumstances. Gang violence MUST BE STOPPED OBAMA!

Blacks can do no wrong, period! That is the DOJ’s excuse for becoming involved. 50+ years of being told they are special and entitled and the gov’t’s only focus is to make it so!!

In any event, it appears to be a case of one sc u m bag Cuban-type (Zimmerman) offing some scummy b l a ck kid (Trayyy-Vonnnn)…in some trash neighborhood….

but now, because the dead kid’s a kneegrow, we have:

the BIG BAD FBI on this “important” case…and

the usual BLACK-RADICAL-PROTESTERS who can’t mind their own business!

Gated communities exist because people are afraid….& negros thrive on crime…Look at our prisons.

Need that too….But Negr0s only have their welfare checks….and in any event can’t follow rules

What time do the riots start? Gotta get my popcorn and munchies ready for the “hood” burning!

Funny you never see them rally against the drug dealing murderers that control their neighborhoods. LOL!!!

How does anyone know what this 17 yr old said, Most likely he threw the race card out ” you stop me because I*M B L ACK” and then became threatning. The media alway plants the seed of doubt when when a B l ac k is sh ot by a caucasian

maybe his gang brothers incited violence too?

How’d the kid get into the “gated” community in the first place?

Them monkeys can jump!

This is going to be a tough case. gang violence is hard to prosecute. martin’s gang may even want to retaliate. this is scary

Let’s find out why the “po’ baby” was REALLY there!

The little thug ghetto monkey should have been home doing his homework, not out gang bangin.

I’m just glad Zimmerman didnt miss and hit an innocent bystander.

THIS IS PURE RACIST!! When do you ever see the DOJ investigate the death of a white child??

This is pure B.S I want to see the kids police record even if something is expounged also why was he removed from facebook it says account terminated. Why because his parents are trying to cover his tracks just like if you hit a bus they see Dollar signs.People have dragged data about Zimmerman out where is the kids past.Don’t say he was a good boy prove it.Ask yourself what is more likely to happen any 17 year old kid when you ask a question.A smartass reply I have never and I mean never seen a teenager run unless he did something wrong.I guess no crinimal has ever cased a place when they went to a store. It takes me aback the way all these facts are quoted by people who read one story on a issue.

Who says his gang wasn’t hiding near by?

he could be a good kid, but being in a gang doesn’t help his case

An unfortunate death, but when will DOJ investigate the death of a Caucsasian?

Here we go again— a LOCAL law enforcement matter (no federal issues) is being hijacked by the FEDS because the alleged “victim” is bl a c k! We all KNOW this kid was up to no good and now he’s feedin’ worms. Too bad-ha ha ha!

Last night on CNN Anderson Cooper kept referring to zimmerman as white when he knew he was Hispanic I wonder why

maybe then the kid was not bIack maybe Hawaiian like tiger woods then we can say s p i c s h o o t s Hawaiian

This has Bl ack racist Holder and his all bl ack racist “DOJ Civil Rights Div” written all over it.

Crack Skittles the new disguise

Skittles actually has a couple slang meanings. Could be referring to recreational usage of Coricidin. Also refers to a male getting lipstick marks from young ladies on the member. Taste the rainbow..

You think the DOJ or main stream will report zimmerman was Hispanic not White

That is all it was — just another n i qq er. No loss

He was slinging crack.

Is tea and skittles slang for guns and crack.

Skittles is actually slang for recreational usage of Coricidin.

This is what happens when you join a gang. kids need to learn from Martin’s mistakes

They should have a hunting season in Florida for these drug crazed gang members.

This could have had a tragic outcome. His gun could have jammed. Whew!

At least he didn’t chain him to the back of his truck?!?!?

How long will it take to get all of those little blk curly nappys out of the White House bedding so that the next POTUS can sleep without that Creepy Crawly feeling .

The picture is of an innocent choir boy designed to evoke sympathy for the “victum” and justify the skewed actions of a corrupt department of justice.

the b!ack community has created a sense of fear with the excessive amounts of cr!me and v!olence and the glamorizing and glorification of cr!mes and v!olence through c rap music (term used lightly) and most are rude, crude, nasty and give others the tough guy BS attitude. You people (term also used lightly) made your beds and now have to lie in them………don’t be angry with us or blame us you did this all on your own.

Hunting, maybe thinning the herd…

It is obvious the un-civilized B!ACKS who dwell in the greatist nation on earth have never wanted to be part of the TEAM, they CRY and P!SS and MOAN at every given oportunity about fairness and equality, While lining up for the free ride at welfare.
The United States is cursed with these baboons, Who will never gain the ability to stand up and make it on their own without our help.
They are the eternal retarded stepchild , needfull and helpless until the end of time.

Now the family of the kid has lost there way out of the ghetto.

ANOTHER TOOKY WILLIAMS, ABORTED.
GOOD SHOT ZIMMY. lol

Trayvon Martin was not a little "niqqer." He wasn't a thug and he wasn't a gang member. He was a normal, everyday American kid who was executed by a man who saw him as a "threat" for the same reason the Fox News commentators saw him as a "little thug ghetto monkey." It's the perfect example of Extreme Color Arousal, in digital form.

I couldn't be Trayvon's parents right about now. To lose your son over senseless, racially-charged bullshit and stumble upon THIS...

H/T to Little Green Footballs for exposing this. Chances are Fox News will remove the comments section altogether on this story, just as they did when they caught flack for those on the Whitney Houston article.

If this article dealt with the death of a white child at the hands of a white man in similar circumstances and the comments were this acerbic and hateful towards that child and whites in general, those comments would be axed at the first opportunity, out of consideration for the family of that slain child.

Of Garbage Heaps And Bumper Stickers.

This town is starting to look like a garbage heap. And we got too damn many niggers urban thugs, yo, ruining the quality of life for everybody. And I'll tell you what it's gonna take. You people, you are - you need to have a gun. You need to have training. You need to know how to use that gun. You need to get a permit to carry that gun. And you do in fact need to carry that gun and we need to see some dead niggers thugs littering the landscape in Atlanta.

The above quoted, slightly modified for translation purposes, comes from Rush Limbaugh-clone Neil Boortz. Like many Americans, Boortz suffers from a severe case of Extreme Color Arousal, a condition nurtured by generations of subtle societal and tribal indoctrination and propaganda against black Americans* and triggered by the mere sights and sounds of black Americans, black American culture or practically any action or event caused by or stemming from black Americans. Combined with the negative preconceived notions that many white Americans have of their fellow black citizens plus the need for politicians and businesses to nurture and illicit both emotion and compliance from voters and customers with "dog whistles" and coded language, Extreme Color Arousal can manifest itself in a number of ways.

Take the sad case of Trayvon Martin, for example. The sight of a young black man in a grey hoodie aroused negative emotions within George Zimmerman. His own possible bias of blacks in general, his association of blacks with criminal behavior ("they always get away") and his desire to rid the neighborhood of the scourge of black criminality led him to stalk, corner and kill an innocent young man. That's Extreme Color Arousal in action, folks.

There are countless cases where cops have allowed Extreme Color Arousal to override their training and judgment, prompting them to treat black Americans in their custody with a far heavier hand than those of other ethnic backgrounds, if they're not killed outright. The NYPD's "Stop and Frisk" campaign targets far more black American citizens than other ethnic groups, thanks to officers operating on their own preconceived notions and color arousal, or on an institutional bias that promotes color aroused behavior. Other police departments around the country carry a biased attitude towards black Americans that often results in their rough treatment or even death.

Then there's the reaction of many Americans to President Barack Obama. Sadly, there are some who simply cannot cope with the sight and knowledge of a black man** in the Oval Office or any other loft position of power, for that matter. Paula Smith could not cope with having President Obama in office, hence her small but telling way of lashing out in a fit of Extreme Color Arousal.

One of the many tell-tale signs of Extreme Color Arousal.

This "2012 Don't Re-nig!" sticker is just one of many ways that Extreme Color Arousal manifests itself. Given that overt racism is no longer acceptable in polite social circles, those expressing their dissatisfaction with niggers thugs and criminals employ coded language. This way, bigoted individuals have a way of shielding themselves from the criticisms of those who can "crack the code." Plausible deniability and feigned innocence/ignorance are those shields.

Extreme Color Arousal stems from a pathological fear and dislike of black Americans, reinforced by negative portrayals and associations of blacks as criminals, thugs, "beasts," and other entities who should be, of course, feared and loathed. For some, the only way for them to feel safe is to grab a gun and be prepared to shoot any nigger criminal who makes them "fear for their life," so they can "take back" the city.† This sort of paranoia never ends well.

The entire nation seems to be gripped in this paranoia. People like Boortz are only the visible symptoms of a serious, deeply embedded problem that's crippling this nation.

* Many white Americans have been trained and indoctrinated to see black Americans as somehow inferior to themselves, as justification for slavery and later the economic and social segregation of black Americans. It also served to divide poor whites against their poor black brethren, to prevent both from joining forces in protest against major societal and economic interests.

** Obama comes from mixed heritage, but as far as many Americans are concerned, he's a black man. Thank the "One Drop Rule" for that one.

Some white Americans see the rise of black Americans to prominent positions of power as a sort of zero-sum game -- blacks gain power while whites lose power. Combine the rise of black-led and largely black-managed cities with serious tax funding issues from suburban flight, exacerbated social issues, constant association of black-led and managed governments with corruption, crime and failure and a "us vs. them" mentality that effectively separates suburban commuters from their city-dwelling counterparts, and you have scores of whites believing that 1)their cities were somehow "conquered" by blacks and 2)therefore need to be "taken back" (which usually means having a "proper" government put in its place, one that just happens to be all-white and possibly all-conservative).

Austin was standing less than 20 yards away from Martin when he was shot on the night of February 26. He didn't see much that night, but says he can't shake the screams for help that he heard or the thunderclap of gunfire that nearly shook him from his shoes.

The screams rattle around in his daydreams, so loud at night that sleep hasn't come easily. And he can't stop asking himself a thousand what-ifs: What if he could have stopped it? What if he had looked "suspicious" that night, and not Martin?

"...it's really hard to walk the dog by where it happened," he said. He wondered aloud what could have happened if he had been walking the dog just a little later, or behind the house instead of in front. But most of all he wondered what if he had been the one who piqued Zimmerman's interest. What if he looked suspicious?

What if, indeed. Being a black male is perhaps one of the most hazardous occupations in the United States of America, to date. If it isn't being lured into the world of violent gangs, criminal activity and induction into the Prison-Industrial Complex, it's having your life extinguished for little to no reason, or because someone thought you represented a far-fetched "threat" to them.

This is what happened to Trayvon Martin, and it could have happened to Austin McLendon. Hell, it could still happen to Austin if he finds himself confronting someone the likes of George Zimmerman. Life is fleeting, but more so for black American males.

Now this young man has to live with bearing witness to someone having his life forfeit for no reason. And he has to live with the fact that his life could be forfeit at any given moment by anyone who sees him as a "threat." He can't even walk outside of his home without worrying if he'll face Trayvon's fate, too.

Parents all over the U.S. live with the fear of seeing their child walk out the front door, only to never come back. The extent of that fear for black parents is ten-fold when you combine gang violence, racial bigotry and an militarized police culture that sees nearly all people, but blacks especially, as "threats."

People have wondered if Trayvon Martin was white or if George Zimmerman was black, would we see the lackadaisical response from the Sanford P.D. or our mainstream media outlets. Chances are Trayvon Martin  would still be alive and George Zimmerman would be so far under the jail, the judge wouldn't even bother with sentencing. But a black kid callously shot by a white "Hispanic" man with a 100-pound weight advantage and a gun illicits no response from the local law enforcement agency or our mainstream media outlets.

We could talk about how racial stereotypes and preconceived notions about black American have allowed mainstream America to ignore a serious crisis that's under the country's noses. We could talk about how America in general tends to not see these things as problems, at least not until it touches mainstream white Americans. But this also transcends ethnic boundaries, in a way. The "Stand Your Ground" laws allow anyone with a bad temper and a firearm to boldly confront just about anyone they see as a "threat." Without any duty to retreat or resolve the situation another way, just about anyone can be killed, with the killing justified as self-defense. If this isn't America's problem, it will be soon enough.

If George Zimmerman isn't brought to justice, scores of people like him will know that all it takes to end the life of someone they don't like, find offensive or merely just pisses them off is to deem them a "threat" to themselves. After all, you're just "protecting yourself," right?

18 Days and Two Shots.

It's been 18 days and counting since Trayvon Martin was shot and killed by George Zimmerman. Zimmerman has yet to be charged and jailed for his role in killing Martin, nor has the Sanford Police Department seen fit to do anything other than give excuses, intimidate and tamper witnesses and pray this whole thing somehow blows over or disappears.

There have been a few developments. For one, the case was turned over to the Florida state district attorney's office for further investigation. Hopefully the state D.A. can find that same probable cause that seemed to elude the Sanford P.D. for the past two-and-a-half weeks. The family of Trayvon Martin is pushing for the FBI to intervene in the case.

Another development is the release of the 911 tapes, the first featuring the call made by George Zimmerman himself and the second made by a nearby resident. The second tape has Martin screaming "Help me," essentially begging for his life before you hear Zimmerman pull the trigger. Unfortunately, I can't embed those videos, so they're in the links below.

You might not want to listen to the second 911 tape. To say it's unsettling is a major understatement.

First video (audio only): Zimmerman calls 911.
Second video (audio only): Resident calls 911, Trayvon in background, shot fired.

In the second video, you can hear two shots fired: one shot near the beginning of the call and a second, louder shot towards the end. That pretty much blows Zimmerman's self-defense claims to shit. This child was murdered.

So now we need the murder weapon and the shell cases from said weapon to bring it all home, right? A commentator over at the Atlantic asked a very important question in regards to that:

I want to know if they bothered to collect shell casings, or even keep his gun, since he was released. This recording is the first reporting of two shots fired.

It's something myself and others want to know. If they didn't, it shows the Sanford P.D. didn't just do a extraordinarily sloppy job of locating and securing evidence -- they completely abrogated their duties as sworn law enforcement officers. And it is something that will make any case brought against Zimmerman that much harder to prosecute.

The entire police department deserves a federal foot shoved up its ass, but chances are the GOP will use any moves made by the DOJ on Eric Holder's watch to bitch about government somehow "overstepping its bounds" or claim Holder's involvement somehow equals racial solidarity. You know, because he's black, Trayvon's black and you know how those darkies black people love sticking up for one another.

Meanwhile, it seems like gunning down young black men is no big deal for police and other persons of authority in Sanford, Florida:

In 2005, two white security guards shot and killed Travares McGill, one of them was the son of a Sanford Police officer. The shooting drove city race relations to a modern low, according to some black residents.

Security guards Patrick Swofford and Bryan Ansley saw Travares dropping off friends in the parking lot of the apartment complex they were hired to guard, according to published reports.

The two claimed Travares tried to run them down and both fired their weapons at him, they later would claim self-defense.

Travares was pronounced dead at the scene. Swofford was a police department volunteer and Ansley is the son of a former veteran of the force.

The pair were arrested and charged, Swofford with manslaughter and Ansley with firing into an occupied vehicle. But a judge later cited lack of evidence and dismissed both cases.

According to autopsy reports, Travares suffered fatal gunshot wounds to the back, and it was unclear if the pair was in danger.

Suffice to say, some people are worried that Trayvon's death and Zimmerman's non-prosecution will wind up setting off something ugly in this turmoil-stricken town.  That "something ugly" might just be right around the corner:

The New Black Liberation Militia, a self-styled black survival group, has announced that it plans to make a citizens arrest of Zimmerman next week, the Associated Press reported.

It quoted Najee Muhammad, a group leader, saying, "We'll find him. We've got his mug shot and everything."

Natalie Jackson, a lawyer for the Martin family, said she does not support the threat, but also cannot control them.

"There are people out there with their own agendas," Jackson said. "It's nothing we condone."

Zimmerman has moved out of his Sanford home because of death threats, according to his father, Robert Zimmerman.

If these people get a hold of Zimmerman, there is no guarantee he'll live through the experience. If Zimmerman turns up dead by another man's hand at this point...

This case has some similarities to that of Easton "DJ" Henry, a young college student who was shot and killed by a Pleasantville, N.Y. police officer who claimed Henry tried to run him over with his vehicle. Henry's family and friends maintain he was moving out of a fire lane when he was murdered:

A passenger inside “DJ” Henry’s vehicle told New York authorities he thought a police officer wanted Henry to move the car he was driving by tapping the driver’s side window with a flashlight seconds before Henry was fatally shot by police in October 2010.

Desmond Hinds, 21, a Pace University football player, told police in Mount Pleasant, N.Y., that Henry, the driver, then pulled around the bend “going at a decent speed.”

Hinds said he looked down briefly, and when he looked up, he saw a person in front of the car “with his hands up together.”

“And then I saw two to three holes in the windshield,” Hinds told police.

Trigger-happy cops and young black males who are perceived as "threats," no matter how they look. Trayvon Martin was not the dark, hulking, physically superior but mentally challenged "Supernigger" that exists in the minds of FReepers and the unreconstructed among us. He was a harmless high school student who was just walking from the store with a pack of Skittles and a Arizona Ice Tea in hand.

Speaking of trigger-happy, a critical component in this entire case is Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law, passed in 2005. This provision eliminates the "duty to retreat" clause that is included in most self-defense statutes. It's also how Zimmerman managed to walk away a free man shortly after killing Martin:

A person who is not engaged in an unlawful activity and who is attacked in any other place where he or she has a right to be has no duty to retreat and has the right to stand his or her ground and meet force with force, including deadly force if he or she reasonably believes it is necessary to do so to prevent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the commission of a forcible felony.

Given how certain segments of the population feel about other particular segments, this results in cases where one person could perceive as a threat someone who comes from a group that is perceived as a threat as a whole and given such, act in a manner that leads to the death of said person under the guise of the other acting in "self-defense." A person's perception of what constitutes a "threat" can be tainted by racism or personal prejudices. What appears to be an innocent young man can be perceived by someone indoctrinated to view that young man and others like him in a entirely negative manner as a "threat." I doubt a white teenager in a hoodie would have solicited the same sort of reaction that seeing Trayvon Martin had on George Zimmerman.

Many people have called for Zimmerman's death and I'll admit, I was in that camp, too. Now that I've sat back and cleared the unbridled anger I had over this tragedy, I'd rather see Zimmerman made to account for his actions via trial, where he can then be convicted and sentenced to spend the rest of his natural life either in an isolated jail cell or on Death Row. Killing Zimmerman will set off a horrific wave of anger, violence and ill-will the likes no one's seen. Letting Zimmerman walk will do the same thing, except it'll prove once and for all that it's Open Season on young black males and any other group the unreconstructed and Teabagging faux-patriots deem "hostile" or "undesirable" or a "threat."

Electronic Bingo Boogaloo V: The Long Con.

The Great State of Alabama has had more of its fair share of embarrassing moments. A few days ago, one of those moments came to an abrupt end:

Jurors have found VictoryLand owner Milton McGregor and five other defendants not guilty of all charges in the retrial of a government corruption case.
Jurors announced that they had reached a decision early this morning on their seventh day of deliberations.

McGregor; lobbyist Tom Coker; former Country Crossing casino spokesman Jay Walker; Sen. Harri Anne Smith, I-Slocomb; and former state Sens. Larry Means, D-Attalla, and Jim Preuitt, R-Talladega, are on trial accused of offering or accepting bribes in connection with a 2010 gambling bill.

The legislation was aimed at sheltering bingo casinos from state efforts to shut them down by authorizing a statewide vote on gambling.

Throughout the trial prosecutors attempted to paint the six defendants as greedy criminals that resorted to bribery because of their lust for money and power. But defense lawyer Joe Espy and others countered there was a total failure of proof in the case and that the prosecution was built on the testimony of "crooks" with plea deals and people with political motivations.

The case first went to trial last summer. Jurors deliberated for seven days before returning multiple not guilty verdicts but saying they were hopelessly deadlocked on other charges.
Prosecutors presented a pared down case this time. Prosecutors put on just two weeks of evidence compared to seven weeks in the first trial.

McGregor's charges he was found not guilty of this morning included three counts of federal programs bribery and one county of conspiracy.

The case was the latest in a series of government corruption investigations in Alabama, including the conviction of former Gov. Don Siegelman and former HealthSouth CEO Richard Scrushy on bribery charges in 2006 and a probe of Alabama's two-year college system that brought down three legislators and the system's former chancellor in 2008.

The main pattern to look for is the accused and convicted bearing either the "D" at the end of their names or being known for having liberal stances. Yep, folks, these convictions were, for the most part, politically motivated. Not only did bottling up the forces most positive towards the legalization of electronic bingo secure the financial futures of both the Mississippi casino gambling interests and Alabama's own Poarch Creek Indian gambling interests, but it also secured the political futures of countless Republicans, as well as paving the way for current governor Robert Bentley.

In the end, Alabamians fell for the long con: the big guys get all of the money and the people they want in office and the average Alabamian is too busy declaring a moral victory over gambling or lamenting McGregor's acquittal to notice. Alabama is always thankful for receiving the long end of the stick in the wrong places.

Legal Schnauzer is a bit displeased that the Obama administration didn't nip this in the bud from the get-go, allowing Bush-era appointees within the Justice Department to run wild with political corruption cases designed to tar and feather Democrats and just about anyone not affiliated with the Grand Old Party or Alabama's special circle of good ol' boys and cronies:

If any of this shines unflattering light on the Obama administration, so be it. The president has either adopted many of George W. Bush's wrong-headed notions on justice--or turned a blind eye on his predecessor's corrupt activities--so now it's time for Eric Holder and company to "enjoy" some scrutiny under a white hot light. If it costs Obama the 2012 election . . . well, tough beans. The president has repeatedly proven that he is not deserving of progressives' support anyway.

The Alabama bingo investigation/trial was a disgrace from the outset, and the public deserves answers on why millions of its dollars were wasted on a sideshow designed to help Alabama Republicans. Obama has had almost four years to do the right thing on the justice front--to return us to a nation governed by the rule of law--and he has failed at every turn. He and his "justice department" deserve to be exposed.

Apologies to Legal Schnauzer, but I have to call a time-out. I'm not about to dump a truckload of blame on the president or Holder for this entire fiasco, but I will place blame where it's due.

If anything, President Obama can be blamed for not taking time out to clean house of the Shrub's old appointees littering the Justice Dept. and federal court system. Holder may have stood by and did nothing, but it was hangers-on like Leura Canary who made it possible for a clear-cut case of political prosecution to go on largely unchecked.

However, the last thing the president should do is attempt to knock heads over this issue before November. Turning over stones this early could easily give the GOP permission to paint themselves as "victims" of a "vendetta-driven housecleaning to insure Obama's reelection," something that'll give them renewed vigor and a way to scuttle the president's reelection chances.

BTW, as of yesterday, Alabama Republicans released their collective load of Santorum all over the state, leaving Mormon robot Mitt Romney a bit miffed as his attempts to assimilate his program into the standard Southeastern U.S. lifestyle and reconcile their belief subroutines with his own resulted in a suitable lack of response from the "Southern" flesh forms.

Imagine.

Imagine you live in a gated community where you pay top dollar to a homeowner's association to insure a safe environment. Imagine sending your son to the store to get some candy and a drink. Imagine your son being followed, then confronted by a man who claims he has no business being in the neighborhood. Imagine the confusion on your son's face as he's told he doesn't belong in the neighborhood where his father calls home. Imagine the man attempting to "detain" your son. He fights back, breaking the man's nose and pushing him down to the ground. The man retaliates by pulling a gun. He fires.

Now, imagine your son lying there in a pool of his own blood, only feet away from your home. Imagine this same man claiming self-defense, despite ignoring warnings from the emergency dispatcher to not follow and confront your son.

Imagine this man being let free, simply because he "cooperated." Your son is dead, and the man who killed him was let free.

Put your son in the shoes of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, a clean-cut kid with nary a disciplinary record and a bright future ahead of him, at least until that future was terminated by the likes of George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch captain. Put yourself in the shoes of Trayvon's parents, who now have to fight for Zimmerman's prosecution for their son's death and hope that the media doesn't get bored with the story, consigning this travesty to relative obscurity.

Put yourself in the shoes of Trayvon's closest friends and relatives, who now have to contend with the loss of someone very special to their hearts. Imagine you're one of his teachers, one of his mentors, his closest friend.

Put yourself in the shoes of a young black male who has to worry about whether he'll lose his life by merely being a random object of some white or "hispanic" man's aggression. Imagine having to deal with yet another way for an innocent black American to lose his or her life in a country that can't seem to keep its shit together when it comes to ethnic matters.

But whatever you do, don't put yourself in the shoes of George Zimmerman, a reprobate who is more than likely being protected by the Sanford Police Department. Zimmerman was charged in 2005 for resisting arrest with violence and battery on a police officer, but those charges were dropped. He was aiming for a degree in Criminal Justice, with the possibility of becoming a cop. He wasn't a cop yet, but he sure attempted to play the part. And now a young promising man is dead because, in his words, “these assholes always get away” and he didn't want this one "getting away." He's currently in hiding, for fear of vigilante justice doing what the justice system seems reluctant to do.

Imagine having your son's death seen as no big deal, because he was more than likely a budding criminal who would have struck at some point. After all, he probably had it coming. "They" all do, according to those "enlightened" minds.

Finally, imagine you're Trayvon, just after you've been shot, wondering if your little brother's gonna be okay with not being able to bring him his favorite candy.

Knowing When You've Been Had.

So not long before Andrew Breitbart kicked the bucket, he hinted at CPAC that he had a little something on President Barack Obama. Something so shocking, so earth shattering that it would change the way we would perceive the president and have us question the whole "hope" and "change" thing. In other words, it was supposed to make us all bitter cynics who'd become so disillusioned that we'd immediately turn our backs on Obama and let the 100,000 or so die-hard Teabaggers usher yet another wave of Republican perfidity into office for the next four to twelve years.

But then, he died. So Stephen Bannon, Joel Pollak and Larry O’Connor started making the media rounds, announcing that they had their hands on what was supposed to be proof of Obama's own perfidity at its worst, as his past life as a radical Marxist Socialist heathen would once and for all be revealed to a shocked and dismayed public. I swear, these people are really GOP operatives in vaguely liberal clothing.

This was supposed to be Watergate all over again, at least for them. It wasn't.

Damn. Either Breitbart was truly and genuinely pathetic or this man managed to punk the living shit out of his fellow conservative minions:

Sorry, conservatives. Seems like Breitbart's left you guys a huge jar of Deez Nuts™, roasted and salted.

"Bu...bu...but that's not the right tape! It was selectively edited! We have the real tape...somewhere!" So said the folks at Breitbart.com. PBS Frontline called "Bullshit!" on that.

FRONTLINE producers obtained the footage from the same source as BuzzFeed did this week: the archives of WGBH, Boston’s PBS station. The footage was shot in 1990 by a team of local news producers for the WGBH Ten O’Clock News. FRONTLINE is produced at WGBH and our producers were alerted to the footage in the station archives in 2008.

In light of today’s controversy, and Breitbart.com editors’ claims that the footage had been edited, we pulled the full archived tape. It includes not just Obama’s speech, but other footage from the rally and portions of Derrick Bell’s speech. You can watch it in full below.

I wonder how it feels for a hack team to get bitch-slapped by an actual news organization.* That's gotta sting something fierce.

So either Breitbart planned this stunt as a sort of going away present for his "friends" or his entire legacy's come to this: bullshit served on a silver platter to people desperate enough to believe it something else and eat it, only to realize what it was during the last few bites. Those were Breitbart's followers - too lightweight to roll with the Fox News Teabagger crowd, but not willing to just stay on the porch, either.

People are having fun with this on Twitter. Check out this Chirpstory and the #BreitbartHasTape Twitter tag.

*Yeah, yeah, PBS isn't exactly CNN, but they're by far better than most media outlets, bar none.

Santorum vs. Single Mothers.

Rick Santorum's doing a heck of a job making himself that much more unelectable (not that it's a bad thing):
During his first US Senate campaign, Rick Santorum warned voters of a growing menace that was "breeding more criminals" and threatened to destroy America from within: single mothers.

"Most people agree a continuation of the current [welfare] system will be the ruination of this country," Santorum told a town meeting in Clairton, Pa., in February 1994, according to transcripts of the appearance obtained by Mother Jones. "We are seeing it. We are seeing the fabric of this country fall apart, and it's falling apart because of single moms."
Huh?
"Open up the current periodicals—study after study, article after article, children having children is destroying the fabric of our country," Santorum said. "If you want to close your eyes to it, if you don't care about it, if you don't want to solve it, if you want to continue the system, to let people stay and spiral—go ahead. Not with me." Single mothers, Santorum argued, needed politicians who weren't afraid of "kicking them in the butt."
You can just see the desperation on the frothy one's mug. In a close race with front-runner Mitt Romney, he's doing and saying anything he can to put himself over the top.

Or at least that's what most people think. Nah, he couldn't be this stupid to believe the above quoted, could he?
It wasn't just single moms that came under assault from Santorum. He told his audience in Clairton that the welfare program's ballooning costs were also due to "aliens," "drug addicts," and children "who have learning disabilities" as well. Santorum went on to suggest that cases of attention deficit disorder were being faked to bilk the government. "[Y]ou have a lot of testimony indicating that parents are coaching their children to stay in that situation in order to receive benefits," he said.

Nah, no one could be this jaw-droppingly stupid.

Santorum, who as a second-term congressman described his views as "moderate," made single mothers a focal point of his welfare policy. He introduced legislation that would have required single mothers who had been on welfare for more than two years to work at least 35 hours a week in order to receive benefits. They would also be denied benefits if they could not identify their child's father. "If they don't give the name, they don't get any welfare," Santorum told the Inquirer. Under his plan, which did not pass Congress, unwed teen mothers would not be eligible for welfare at all.

All of this rhetoric appeals to people who see out-of-wedlock births, birth control and sexual freedom as absolute sins that must be punished with children and poverty as consequences. Somehow, it makes them feel better than the single and teen parents, plus it gives them affirmation that their own choices in life were the "right" and "proper" ones.

In an effort to encourage people to get married, Santorum has proposed eliminating head-of-household exemptions for unmarried parents, while tripling their value for married parents. "We shouldn't have incentives for people not to be married," he said in October.

Ricky baby, marriage is not the magic bullet that suddenly solves a single mother's problems. In fact, it could very well compound them. It's as though this guy never heard of stepparents or biological parents being abusive to one another or abusive to their kids or anything.

Rick, I think you've proved to the people that you are nowhere near worthy of the Oval Office. Sit down.

Fear Of Fairer Airwaves.

And the biggest fear of these rightwing broadcasters is that the “fairness doctrine,” which their hero Reagan killed, will be re-instituted. Radio managers weren’t too enamored of the government monitoring whether each minute of rightwing tit was met with an equal in length leftwing tat, so they often replaced talk radio with soft rock, or a gardening show, to spare themselves the headaches.

There's a lot of talk about whether Rush Limbaugh's latest asshole outburst will earn him a permanent leave of absence from the EIB golden mic. It won't, most likely. The most preferable plan of action for his paymasters is to wait for the whole thing between him and Sandra Fluke to blow over and die within the ADHD-addled minds of American media consumers.

The above comes courtesy of Lee Haven of Jack and Jill Politics. I doubt the Fairness Doctrine will be resurrected any time soon, even when President Obama finally achieves "lame duck" status and has to no longer gingerly step through the conservative minefield just to stay in office. "Lame duck" status gives him the keys to the minesweeper, but it's up to him if he wants to put the flails to the mines littered all over the landscape.

But what if Rushbo's stupidity finally made reimposing the Fairness Doctrine on the nation's airwaves a once-more viable and appealing solution? It's far-fetched, but enough people could finally be so disgusted that the idea could be put in motion without as much opposition from conservatives.

I doubt that'll happen. For starters, most people simply turn the dial when they get sick of Rushbo's shit. That leaves his adoring legions of "dittoheads" and die-hard conservatives. His steadfast fan base will cry foul if any mention of the Fairness Doctrine is made, as such a thing would be seen as a way to "muzzle" their golden boy. The president himself currently opposes any move to revive the Fairness Doctrine and it's uncertain if this incident will change his mind. The FCC recently removed language referring to it from both its rulebook and from the Federal Register, making it even less likely for any sort of sudden revival.

The best course of action for people who want Rushbo to feel some sort of consequence for his actions is to hammer his advertisers. He has to do what the money tells him to do and so far, the money's telling him to tone it down a notch. After all, he's just a mouthpiece.

I'd love to see pill-popping sex fiend be shown the door, but like cockroaches and early 1970s home decor, he'll tenaciously cling to that golden mic. It took a rather sudden case of death to end Andrew Breitbart's hackery and with Limbaugh's shaky health, the same might happen to the grand champion of asshole/fuckwad behavior.

By the way, I forgot to mention how Bill O'Reilly jumped into the fray with the following comment:

"Let me get this straight, Ms. Fluke, and I'm asking this with all due respect," he said. "You want me to give you my hard-earned money so you can have sex?"

I guess when you're constantly skirting the edges of irrelevancy, you have to do or say something to remind people you actually exist.

Jesse Lee Peterson, Badly Whipped.

"One of the things that I would do is take all black people back to the South and put them on the plantation so they would understand the ethic of working. I'm going to put them all on the plantation. They need a good hard education on what it is to work."

I think Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson's gonna have a hard time convincing even his fellow House Negros that voluntarily giving one's self up to the "peculiar institution" as a way of building character is a good idea. I guess he never did watch Roots or better still, "Slavery by Another Name."

"Newt (Gingrich) said that he would have black children, minority children work as janitors at school. Working as a janitor would build character, more so than the handouts so many of them like."

"I know some people take it personally because a whole lot of folks don't like hearing the truth; they like to be in denial," he added. "Not all black people, but most black people know, and white people know, and black people say it more in private than they would in public, but for the last 50 years or so, generations and generations of black people have relied on the government or someone else to take care of them."

"Many black women have had babies out of wedlock and passed that on to their daughters that if they have babies out of wedlock, they'll get food stamps, free houses and your rent paid," Peterson said.

There are many ways to instill character and good work ethics in young kids, and making them work a mop and broom at school isn't exactly one of those ways to go about it.* You're not gonna instill a good work ethic in someone by forcing them to reenact the life and times of an ordinary black slave in 1840s Alabama. Resentment and a desire to kill whoever thought this was a good idea, oh yes. Very much so. Also note the stereotypical garbage Peterson spouts at the end. Reads just like an ordinary GOP script.

As I read the above, I began to think about Elizabeth Wright, a woman who shared many of the same traits Peterson's exhibiting, one glaring trait being the compulsion to chastise, upbraid and castigate other blacks within the presence of and for the approval of white America. It's one thing to speak about the problems plaguing the black community; it's another to speak on those problems just to get brownie points from your fellow white conservative friends, many who'd die laughing at the spectacle of one "nigger" whipping another.

...if they have babies out of wedlock, they'll get food stamps, free houses and your rent paid...

Why do conservatives tell themselves this? Being in poverty is not a picnic where you're suddenly showered with all sorts of freebies and an opportunity to live in a life of leisure that even the wealthy 0.1% would envy. Everything comes with a string attached: the food stamps are set at a paltry amount with restrictions on what you can and can't buy, the "free" house is in a shitty neighborhood and requires mandatory community service and surprise "inspections," and that "free" rent suddenly evaporates if you manage to make one cent over the state/federal poverty line. You're given enough to keep you in poverty but not enough to overcome it, in most cases. Poverty isn't luxurious -- it's stressful as hell. But try telling the average conservative making a comfortable $55k to $250k that.

Speaking of conservatives:

According to the report, Peterson himself grew up on an Alabama plantation where his family had once been enslaved, and where members of his family had later worked as share croppers.

It's all coming to focus. I have to wonder if Peterson's ancestors were overseers or trusties back then.

Perhaps the good Rev. should be a bit more honest with us and tell us what he really wants: to forfeit his own right to be considered and treated as a full-fledged human being and be returned to sub-human status, whence he'll be worked from sunup to sundown with the callousness and lack of dignity given to even most common livestock and whipped for his troubles if he reconsiders or steps out of line. He'll be lesser than livestock, but at least he'll be exactly where he wants to be.

*Most Japanese schools have their students pitch in with tidying up the classroom after instruction. As far as I know, the task is largely voluntary, although the collective spirit precludes all but a few from deliberately opting out. But this isn't Japan.
"...when the left wants to pretend they have no sense of humor, they are excellent at it. Yesterday in the riff about it, 'Okay, okay, fine. If we're gonna pay for this, at least let us have something for it. How about some sex videos?' If anybody doesn't realize that we are illustrating absurdity here by being absurd and that that is the trademark of this program ... But oh, no! 'Oh, of everything else you've said, that's the lowest of the low. Demanding sex video? Who do you think you are?' Lighten up. I remember using that phrase all the way back in 1989: Lighten up."
"...now, at the end of this week, I am the person that the women of AMERICA are to fear the most. What can I do to the women of AMERICA? Do I have the power to raise their taxes? I do not. Do I have the power to regulate their behavior? I do not. Do I have the power to make health care decisions for them? I do not. Do I have the power to withhold birth control pills from them? I do not. Do I have the power to audit their tax returns? I do not. Do I have the power to take their little four-year-old kindergarten student's lunch and throw it away and make 'em eat something else? I do not. Do I have the power to look into their personal life and leak the information to the media? I do not. Is there one bit of freedom that I can deny them? Can I raise their taxes? They want to blame me as being the person they should fear, when in fact the people doing all these things I just said I have no power to do, the DEMOCRAT PARTY (sic) is doing."
Rush Limbaugh remains the grand champion when it comes to unleashing one's inner asshole for both money and media fame. I forgot to add in the previous blog post that there's yet another way to neutralize an asshole: hit the asshole in his wallet. Or in Rush's case, his show's advertisers.

Countless people took to Twitter and petitioned companies that bought airtime on Rushbo to pull their ads in protest. So far, several advertisers were convinced to pull their ads from the Rush Limbaugh radio program, including:
Nevertheless, Rushbo remains resolute in both his willingness to remain an asshole and his unwillingness to offer an apology to Sandra Fluke. Even after finding out the president called to give his support to Fluke, Rushbo decided to take the piss on both with this lovely tidbit from Politico:
And as he discovered while on the air that Obama had called Fluke, Limbaugh mocked their exchange. “Aw. That is so compassionate! What a great guy,” Limbaugh said. “The president called her to make sure she’s okay. What is she, 30 years old? Thirty years old, a student at Georgetown law who admits to having so much sex that she can’t afford it anymore.”

Later on the show, the radio host laced into the president for telling Fluke that her parents should be proud of her.

“Your daughter appears before a congressional committee and says she’s having so much sex, she can’t pay for it and wants a new welfare program to pay for it. Would you be proud? I don’t know about you, but I’d be embarrassed. I’d disconnect the phone. I’d go into hiding and hope the media didn’t find me,” Limbaugh said.
I'd ask if it's too much for Rushbo to just shut the fuck up, but I find it more entertaining to see the ol' pillhead dig himself in the hole that much deeper.

By the way, thanks to Redeye's diligence in locating contacts to Rushbo's biggest sponsors and paymasters, I was reminded that Clear Channel, the radio channel hosting the Rush Limbaugh show, is currently owned by Bain Capital. You know, the company founded and run in part by none other than Mitt Robot Romney.

Speaking of assholes, not only has District Judge Richard Cebull apologized to the president for getting caught forwarding the infamous "Obama dog" email, but he's also calling for an investigation...on himself:
U.S. District Judge Richard Cebull says he will apologize to President Obama and ask for a panel of judges to investigate his conduct after a Montana newspaper reported he had sent a racially inflammatory message using his courthouse email account last month.

Unleashing Your Inner Asshole.

"What does it say about the college co-ed Sandra Fluke, who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex, what does that make her? It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex. She's having so much sex she can't afford the contraception. She wants you and me and the taxpayers to pay her to have sex. What does that make us? We're the pimps."
If we are going to pay for your contraceptives, and thus pay for you to have sex. We want something for it. We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch," he said.
Sigh. The War on Uteri™ continues unabated, from state legislatures churning out bill after bill to restrict, undermine and intimidate women from exercising control of their reproductive faculties to conservative front-liners like Rush Limbaugh and Foster Friess letting loose with ultimately misogynistic rhetoric such as the above.

Here we have financially well-off men with their own personal demons and presumed difficulty in maintaining their sexual vigor declaring women who wish to NOT be punished with pregnancy or STDs whenever they have sex on their own terms and with partners they choose, "prostitutes," "sluts" and "whores." You have to wonder if these men and others like them are just angry they can't get any unless they hold out the carrots of power and wealth and then hope some unsuspecting intern takes a bite. Sexual deprivation and frustration tends to manifest in strange ways.

“I get such a chuckle when these things come out. Here we have millions of our fellow Americans unemployed. We have jihadist camps being set up in central – in Latin America, which Rick has been warning about, and people seem to be so preoccupied with sex. I think it says something about our culture. We maybe need a massive therapy session so we can concentrate on what the real issues are. And this contraceptive thing, my gosh, it’s so — such inexpensive. Back in my days, they used Bayer aspirin for contraceptives. The gals put it between their knees and it wasn’t that costly.”

But it's not just them. It's several segments of the national populace who enjoy hearing men like Limbaugh and Friess say the things they're too polite or afraid to openly proclaim themselves. These people have a low opinion of women who won't follow the narrow sexual path set down by a combination of religious doctrine and a pathological fear of sex itself. They can't enjoy sexual freedom for fear of being ostracized as a whore or a slut, hence appearances must be kept and "whores" must be shamed. Ta-Nehisi Coates calls it the "normalization of cruelty." I call it "unleashing your inner asshole."

The above comes courtesy of Bad Lip Reading. If these things were actually said on the campaign trail, would anyone have noticed? Probably not.

BLR has vids featuring horribly funny lip reads of Ron, Michelle, Ricky P, Mitt and Cool Herman Smooth, too.

Andrew Breitbart

I'm still waiting for more concrete confirmation before I consider the news official. Amazing how people you'd thought would kick around for a long time suddenly check out.
For some reason, plenty of people don't believe that proper office decorum extends to the cyberspace realm of the workplace. To wit, most people know it's not a good idea to spend your downtime surfing porn or forwarding Goatse pics to one another on Exchange. Such behavior would get most people a talking down to and a trip to Human Resources. Or a lovely little pink slip. Conservatives have this thing about passing forwarded emails around like a good toke: they take a puff, savor the smoke and after they've gotten their high off of it, pass it around to other good friends with similar tastes.

One fine afternoon, Chief U.S. District Judge Richard Frank Cebull of the District of Montana forwarded an email to six of his dearest friends from his official email account. Normally, this wouldn't be something anyone would give two shits about unless it had unencrypted instructions on how to raise Osama Bin Laden's spirit from the beyond. Unfortunately, it contained the following text:

"Normally I don't send or forward a lot of these, but even by my standards, it was a bit touching. I want all of my friends to feel what I felt when I read this. Hope it touches your heart like it did mine.

"A little boy said to his mother; 'Mommy, how come I'm black and you're white?'" the email joke reads. "His mother replied, 'Don't even go there Barack! From what I can remember about that party, you're lucky you don't bark!'"

Here we have a joke that manages to kill three birds with one large, bleached stone:

  • It insinuates that Barack Obama's mother was a loose whore with little to no morals. Only a whore would dare to be so loose with herself and only a whore would have mixed offspring.
  • It suggests that blacks are in the same league as or possibly lower than four-legged animals when it comes to how well-regarded they are.
  • It denigrates those of mixed parentage, especially those of both black and white heritage. Such couplings are considered "unnatural" by the unreconstructed and their fellow faux-reconstructed hangers-on.

The joke touched Cebull's heart so much that he had to forward it to his friends. That was some good stuff he was toking and he had to pass the joint around the room.

The judge acknowledged that the content of the email was racist, but said he does not consider himself racist. He said the email was intended to be a private communication.

"It was not intended by me in any way to become public," Cebull said. "I apologize to anybody who is offended by it, and I can obviously understand why people would be offended."

Cebull said his brother initially sent him the email, which he forwarded to six of his "old buddies" and acquaintances.

He admitted that he read the email and intended to send it to his friends.

So he's not a racist, but he does enjoy racist jokes now and again and furthermore, he apologizes that it somehow got in the wrong hands. Yep, it's all being blown out of proportion.

It's A Bad Thing™ for a federal judge to engage in activity that potentially colors otherwise impartial decision making in a courtroom setting. A man who finds a crude, racially-charged 3-for-1 joke about the president's heritage may also have no problem with being biased against a black American standing before him. He may also be willing to push said person towards the harshest sentences possible regardless of the crime and possibly disregard evidence and testimony pointing towards an acquittal or a lesser charge. By virtue of engaging in color-aroused activity, he's put a clean shot through his own credibility as far as most people are concerned.

This is why people are standing up and taking notice. That and the fact the judge made no attempt in sugarcoating or P.R. spin. He simply said "Why yes, that was incredibly racist........but I'm not a racist." Like most people caught in a bind of their own making, he's only sorry he got caught. Some people expect that blunt honesty to win people over.

Meanwhile, a comment sums up the suspicions that black Americans have towards their white counterparts in just about any social setting:

Every time I hear crap like this from a white person, it makes it that much harder for me to be in the company of black people because I am concerned they think I feel the same way.

You have no idea what people are thinking about you. A black person has to go through life wondering if the white people they briefly interact with think of him or her as a human being worthy of respect or as a plain-old "nigger." Now imagine having to put up with this in a rather powerful courtroom jurisdiction.

Cebull, of Billings, was nominated by former President George W. Bush and received his commission in 2001 and has served as chief judge for the District of Montana since 2008.

I'm not surprised. Bush had a way of picking his people.
