  • I followed the Donald Sterling story, but I haven't had much of an inclination to blog about it as deeply as I'd like to. As I've said before, there has to be something about the subject matter that really piques my interest before I invest the time and effort to make an in-depth post I feel is worthy of DDSS. Not exactly the most efficient way to run a one-man show, but there it is.

So the fact that a rich old man who has already established himself as quite the consummate scumbag was caught on tape in the full throes of grizzled, disgruntled bigotry wasn't of much interest to me. The fact that he did all of this in fear of his paramour embracing her roots and the men comprising much of those roots wasn't all that interesting, either. Nevertheless, it's amazing how jealousy, insecurity and paranoia has the potential to render the brain into a twisted, broken mess.

The reactions were mildly interesting. I never expected the Clippers to stage a walk-off or simply refuse to not play at all, but I did find the protest they came up with a bit weak. You can turn your warm-up jerseys inside out as much as you want, but you're still on the court playing for a team owned by a man who likely sees you the same way Simon Legree saw his own charges. I understand it's all about the paper at the end of the day, but still...

Seeing ESPN drop the ball by not picking it up in the first place was no surprise, either. The media gossip mavens at TMZ did a bang-up job getting the story out there and the bloggers (with yours truly as an exception) ran marathons with it. Meanwhile, ESPN appeared too scared to report anything about Sterling until they've received the proper clearance and narrative from whomever was higher up on the media food chain.

Seeing Sterling bounced out of the NBA and, as a result, forced to relinquish Clippers ownership was a surprise. I've come to expect misbehaving millionaires and billionaires to be given slaps on the wrist, golden parachutes and generous retirement packages, so Sterling's forced exit from the league was a bit out of the ordinary and a refreshing shock for a cynic like myself.

The best thing about all of this? The man's mouth and actions along with the subsequent exposure were what got him the boot from basketball.

When dealing with the likes of Sterling, Cliven Bundy and Rand Paul, it's best to let ignorance speak for itself. As our own president remarked during his trip to Kuala Lumpur at the height of the controversy, letting your adversary make a mockery of their own self through their own words and actions is a far more effective tool than anything else you could muster. Had Sterling possessed the forethought to hide his ignorance better, he'd still be in the good graces of the NBA.

In the end, the only interesting angle in this entire story is the one that nobody else is really talking about - the fact that a league where 76.3 percent of its players and 43.3 percent of its head coaches are black, over 98 percent of the majority team owners are white. It's a bit of a problem (and it gives us plenty of unpleasant imagery to work with), but it's one that'll have to slowly work itself out as more black American entrepreneurs realize their full economic clout and make the smart moves with their money. Is owning an NBA franchise a smart move? That depends on what you want out of it, but that's not a department that yours truly specializes in.

"But Mack, wouldn't it be a problem if 76.3 percent of those NBA players were white and 98 percent of the majority owners where black?"

Good question. Advocates of a colorblind and post-racial America will likely suggest that just as long as the ownership treats their players good, there wouldn't and shouldn't be any problems at all, thus making white majority ownership of a team full of black players a non-issue. With that logic, there shouldn't be problem the other way around, either.

On the other hand, there's that unpleasant imagery to deal with. It's imagery brought to us by generations of bad history, but that's something that anyone with the time and inclination can look up for themselves.

  • As you watch the above video, what do you see?

    A) A young toddler who's the clear victim of piss-poor parenting
    B) A bad-assed little boy who needs his behind spanked
    C) A young thug in training

The above comes courtesy of the Omaha Police Officers Association of Omaha, NE, which purports to be absolutely heartbroken over what it sees as "the thug cycle." But here's the thing - the POA folks might mean well*, but holding up a video of a little kid mimicking what he's been taught in his own home** as the gold standard of self-perpetuating thuggery is a bit much, to put it lightly.

The yokels and unreconstructed have already picked C), but that's a given. It's the rest of the nation who's constantly bombarded with media, stereotypes and anecdotes that reinforce the status of blacks as thugs and young black youth as budding thugs.

*Seriously, I don't trust these folks any further than I can throw them. Given Omaha's history in terms of racial relations and the current state of such across the country, plus not knowing what lurks in the hearts of those folks and the institution they serve, having that lack of trust is a good thing.

**And to think the grown folks in the video think this shit is cute. That merits an entire blog post in its own right.

  • Privileged individuals have a knack for making themselves known and every once in a while, they get a little exposure on DDSS. Gene Marks, John Derbyshire, Glenn Greenwald and most recently, David Sirota. Between them, every single one has made the cardinal sin of adopting a particularly privileged view of ethnic relations between themselves and their black American counterparts. It's a particular view that's far removed from the realities of everyday black American life and more rooted in an idealized and pre-packaged conceptualization easily influenced by deliberate and subconscious pre-judgements, as well as by their own personal experiences, some of which are also easily influenced by deliberate and subconscious pre-judgements.

If you've somehow construed the above as yet another "racist" rant from a man still wearing his "race goggles," chances are you'd probably find yourself in some form of agreement with Victor Davis Hanson's piece on the president's most recent speech on the Zimmerman trial and Trayvon Martin. Hanson immediately opens up with a salvo that sets the tone of the article:

Last week President Obama weighed in again on the Trayvon Martin episode. Sadly, most of what he said was wrong, both literally and ethically.

Pace the president, the Zimmerman case was not about Stand Your Ground laws. It was not a white-on-black episode. The shooting involved a Latino of mixed heritage in a violent altercation with a black youth.

Which leads you to wonder exactly what was it all about, if it wasn't any of these things. Removing "Stand Your Ground" and the deep-set racial components from the event, it devolves into a mere altercation between two individuals that got out of hand and resulted in a loss of life on one side. Distilling the case of Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman down to that anodyne reasoning obviates the need for an uncomfortable discussion about race or even gun control, for that matter. Everyone gets to go home without putting too much thought in a case that's now become worthy of a below-the-fold mention somewhere in the extreme lower right-hand corner of the Sanford Herald, with a brief blurb buried somewhere on A7.

Hanson also manages to squeeze in the question of George Zimmerman's ethnic background, black America's insistence on identifying him as white and the outrage of those who wanted to play up Zimmerman's Hispanic origins, most notably those on his Peruvian mother's side of the family, to disarm and de-fang the "white-on-black" aspect of the case. Nevermind that his father comes from German-American stock. It's something that's rarely, if ever mentioned by the mainstream.

Nevertheless, this sets the stage for Hanson to question the president's involvement in the case via his recent speech, along with Eric Holder's involvement via civil rights probe:

Is it ethical for the president to weigh in on a civil-rights case apparently being examined by his own Justice Department? The president knows that if it is true that African-American males are viewed suspiciously, it is probably because statistically they commit a disproportionate amount of violent crime. If that were not true, they might well be given no more attention as supposed suspects than is accorded to white, Asian, or Latino youths. Had George Zimmerman been black, he would have been, statistically at least, more likely to have shot Trayvon Martin — and statistically likewise less likely to have been tried.

Barack Obama knows that if non-African-Americans were to cease all inordinate scrutiny of young African-American males, the latters’ inordinate crime rates would probably not be affected — given other causation for disproportionate incidences of criminality. Yet should their statistical crime profiles suddenly resemble those of other racial and ethnic groups, the so-called profiling would likely cease.

Like many others, Hanson zeros in on black crime rates to justify Zimmerman's rationale for confronting Martin, but with the added twist of condemning the president's interest in the case. If Zimmerman was just another black guy or a visible Hispanic (as opposed to one that appears roughly as white as his father), neither the president nor the U.S. Attorney General would have bothered with any attention. After all, it's not like they or their fellow blacks pay attention to black-on-black crime, which is yet another argument others used to condemn the president's interest in Trayvon Martin.

Hanson's claims of black crime rates remaining unaffected by a cessation in racial profiling would be dis-proven once the NYPD, LAPD and other law enforcement agencies across the country cease their profiling efforts. Further still with the advent of the end of drug sentencing guidelines weighted heavily towards drug activities most likely performed by minority groups and the impoverished.

Finally, Hanson goes in for the kill:

The president, I think, spoke out for three reasons: 1) He is an unbound, lame-duck president, with a ruined agenda, facing mounting ethical scandals; from now on, he will say things more consonant with being a community organizer than with being a nation’s president; 2) he knows the federal civil-rights case has little merit and cannot be pursued, and thus wanted to shore up his bona fides with an aggrieved black community; and 3) as with the ginned-up “assault-weapons ban” and the claim that Republicans are waging a “war on women,” Obama knows, as a community activist, that tension can mask culpability — in his case, the utter failure to address soaring unemployment in the inner city, epidemic black murder rates, the bankruptcy of Detroit, and the ways his failed economic policies disproportionately affect inner-city youth.

In short, Hanson distills the president's concern about the state of his country in the aftermath of a game-changing case and verdict not as any sort of genuine concern for the nation's welfare, but as an opportunity moment for a mere lame-duck desperate to mask his own policy and leadership failures with a last-minute rapport with "his people," to both allay their grievances and improve his own appearance.

And it would be a most brutal deconstruction of the president's supposed political chess-move, if it wasn't for three simple and salient facts.

That America has a very real institutionalized problem with race.
That aspects of the Zimmerman case were steeped in it, whether people wanted to admit it or not.
That the president did the right thing by reminding people of the first and that people should try to work out why the second matters and ultimately, how to not let a future case be influenced in that manner again.

Then again, I didn't expect Hanson to have a clue in the first place.

The following puts a choke-hold on that point:

Attorney General Eric Holder earlier gave an address to the NAACP on the Zimmerman trial. His oration was likewise not aimed at binding wounds. Apparently he wanted to remind his anguished audience that because of the acquittal of Zimmerman, there still is not racial justice in America.

Holder noted in lamentation that he had to repeat to his own son the lecture that his father long ago gave him. The sermon was about the dangers of police stereotyping of young black males. Apparently, Holder believes that the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Yet I fear that for every lecture of the sort that Holder is forced to give his son, millions of non-African-Americans are offering their own versions of ensuring safety to their progeny.

In my case, the sermon — aside from constant reminders to judge a man on his merits, not on his class or race — was very precise.

First, let me say that my father was a lifelong Democrat. He had helped to establish a local junior college aimed at providing vocational education for at-risk minorities, and as a hands-on administrator he found himself on some occasions in a physical altercation with a disaffected student. In middle age, he and my mother once were parking their car on a visit to San Francisco when they were suddenly surrounded by several African-American teens. When confronted with their demands, he offered to give the thieves all his cash if they would leave him and my mother alone. Thankfully they took his cash and left.

I think that experience — and others — is why he once advised me, “When you go to San Francisco, be careful if a group of black youths approaches you.” Note what he did not say to me. He did not employ language like “typical black person.” He did not advise extra caution about black women, the elderly, or the very young — or about young Asian Punjabi, or Native American males. In other words, the advice was not about race per se, but instead about the tendency of males of one particular age and race to commit an inordinate amount of violent crime.

It was after some first-hand episodes with young African-American males that I offered a similar lecture to my own son. The advice was born out of experience rather than subjective stereotyping. When I was a graduate student living in East Palo Alto, two adult black males once tried to break through the door of my apartment — while I was in it. On a second occasion, four black males attempted to steal my bicycle — while I was on it. I could cite three more examples that more or less conform to the same apprehensions once expressed by a younger Jesse Jackson. Regrettably, I expect that my son already has his own warnings prepared to pass on to his own future children.

I remember when John Derbyshire tried his own version of The Talk™. Like Derbyshire, Hanson doesn't quite grasp the actual reason why black Americans had to devise life-saving rules of conduct for their young black children, boys and young men, especially, to survive life in this country at a most basic level.

    This is why.

The story of Emmit Till was an example of what happens when a young black male strays outside of the rules of conduct laid down within The Talk™, thereby bringing eventual harm to himself by offending the sensibilities of a shockingly violent mainstream white society. Till's story was just one of the few out of thousands that managed to be immortalized and documented.

These days, the reward for not following the rules of conduct as explained in The Talk™ is much of the same - possible expulsion, possible jail time and in many cases, possible death, whether administered by an officer of the law or by someone whose sensibilities were as offended as the people responsible for transforming Emmit Till's face into the infamous visual that shocked and deservedly shamed the rest of America into giving black America's plight larger consideration.

This isn't to say that George Zimmerman's intentions were as vicious and venal as Till's murderers. At this point, readers sympathetic to the man have likely clicked away in disgust, denouncing yours truly as "a sick racist who only sees race and nothing else" or "just another race-hustling pimp just like his idol Sharpton (or Jackson) and Holder." That is, if they've even made it to this point.

Hanson justifying his own trepidation around blacks by comparing the black community's need for "The Talk™" with his own, notably tamer experiences, smack of privileged stupidity. Neither Hanson nor his father had to bear the worries of traversing an institutionalized and deeply-ingrained minefield of racially-motivated antagonism. Nor did they have to worry about "night riders" assaulting and killing them in the dead of night just because or being publicly murdered in the town square, their bodies left up for decoration by a bemused yet thrilled crowd.

Victor Davis Hanson doesn't have to worry about his ethnic background being a factor in his sudden death at the hands of someone whose sensibilities were offended by his appearance.

I'll let Ta-Nehisi Coates offer his own explanation:

Let us be direct -- in any other context we would automatically recognize this "talk" as stupid advice. If I were to tell you that I only employ Asian-Americans to do my taxes because "Asian-Americans do better on the Math SAT," you would not simply question my sensitivity, but my mental faculties. That is because you would understand that in making an individual decision, employing an ancestral class of millions is not very intelligent. Moreover, were I to tell you I wanted my son to marry a Jewish woman because "Jews are really successful," you would understand that statement for the stupidity which it is.

It would not be acceptable for me to make such suggestions (to say nothing of policy) in an enlightened society -- not simply because they are "impolite" but because they betray a rote, incurious and addled intellect. There is no difference between my argument above and the notion that black boys should be avoided because they are overrepresented in the violent crime stats. But one of the effects of racism is its tendency to justify stupidity.

Those of who have spent much of our lives living in relatively high crime neighborhoods grasp this particular stupidity immediately. We have a great many strategies which we employ to try to protect ourselves and our children. We tell them to watch who they are walking with, to not go to neighborhoods where they don't know anyone, that when a crowd runs toward a fight they should go the other way, to avoid blocks with busted street-lights, to keep their heads up while walking, to not daydream and to be aware of their surroundings.

When you start getting down to particular neighborhoods the advice gets even more specific -- don't cut through the woods to get to school, stay away from Jermaine Wilks, don't got to Mondawmin on the first hot day of the year, etc. There is a great scene in the film The Interruptors when one of the anti-violence workers notes that when she sees a bunch of people in a place, and then they all suddenly clear out, she knows something is coming down. My point is that parents who regularly have to cope with violent crime understand the advantages of good, solid intelligence. They know that saying '"stay away from black kids" is the equivalent of looking at 9/11, shrugging one's shoulders and saying, "It was them Muslims."

It should come as no surprise that Victor Davis Hanson's generational advice has met with mixed results. But when you are more interested in a kind of bigoted nationalism than your actual safety, this is what happens.

When it comes to ethnic relations, Hanson couldn't recognize systemic, institutionalized racial antagonism if it had surrounded his car and demanded his cash, jewelry and smartphone. That's what privileged stupidity does to a man. It leaves him without a clue and it doesn't have the common decency to let him know it's gone.

  • A pickpocket grabs opportunity by the horns and gets gored for his troubles. At least it wasn't all about the shoes:

According to witnesses, an armed man tried to rob a group of customers in line about 5:30 a.m. But one of the customers who was armed with his on own handgun shot and killed the suspect. The suspect ran just a few yards away before he collapsed and died, police said.

Witnesses told Channel 2 Action News the suspect had been pick-pocketing people all week long. "(The suspect) wanted to pick-pocket everybody. But people out here, they weren't going for none of that," said customer Taylor White.

White told Channel 2’s Amanda Cook the suspect should have thought twice before approaching the customers. "I didn't even expect him to come up here, thinking it was that sweet; Thinking it’s that candy land like that," White said.

Far from "candy land," Mr. White. I can safely say this goes into "senseless" territory.
  • Almost every schoolkid has had the opportunity of taking part in a science project. Ever since the Space Race and the subsequent national imperative to gift kids with "the right stuff" to kick ass in the hard sciences, science projects have practically become the cornerstone of the public (and private) education experience. Yours truly had his fair share of messing with noxious chemicals, dissecting starfish, polishing mirrors and watching stuff get blown up, frozen and knocked around. For science.

Of course, there's always the science project that goes wrong. Most times when it isn't life or property-threatening, it's usually hilarious. Hollywood tells us so. Apparently, the fine folks of Polk County Schools didn't think what 16-year-old Kiera Wilmot did was funny, even if it was purely by accident:

A 16-year-old Bartow High School student was arrested Monday on allegations she detonated a bottle of explosive materials on the school grounds.

No one was hurt in the morning explosion, nor was school property damaged, said Principal Ron Pritchard.

Kiera Roslyn Wilmot* was charged with making, possessing or discharging a destructive device and with possessing or discharging weapons on school grounds. Both charges are felonies.

The girl told authorities she was conducting a science experiment, according to Bartow police, but science teachers at the school said they knew nothing about it. She also said she thought the materials would produce only smoke, not an explosion, police said.

According to the story, there wasn't any malicious intent. Just a 16-year-old kid who didn't think this experiment through. Besides, mixing up household chemicals at 7 in the morning in a sparsely-populated area in the hopes of making a little smoke isn't on par with, say, wiring up a PVC pipe bomb and shoving it under a teacher's desk just in time for homeroom. Nevertheless, she was placed under arrest:

Pritchard said he was standing nearby when the student left the drink bottle behind the cafeteria, near the lake on the school's east side.

"It was next to the gazebo by the lake," he said. "I wasn't standing too far away when it happened. I just heard the pop, and I turned around. I thought it was a firecracker at first."

Household materials were used to create the explosion, said Bartow police Lt. Gary McLin. He declined to say what those materials were, but said the information is available through the Internet.

Pritchard said the girl didn't leave the area after the bottle exploded.

"She left it on the ground, and she stayed there," he said. "We went over to where she was. She saw that we saw her, so she didn't take off."

He said she was taken to the school's office, where police took her into custody.

The explosion occurred about 7 a.m., about the time classes started.

"There weren't a lot of kids there," Pritchard said. "There were maybe half a dozen kids in the area where she was, and nobody was hurt by it."

Wilmot was transported to the county's Juvenile Assessment Center in Bartow following her arrest.

Adult felony charges for blowing the cap off a water bottle, something that grown adults do with a pack of Mentos and a two-liter of Coke.

Not long after Wilmot’s experiment, authorities arrested her and charged her with “possession/discharge of a weapon on school property and discharging a destructive device,” according to WTSP-TV. The school district proceeded to expel Wilmot for handling the “dangerous weapon,” also known as a water bottle. She will have to complete her high school education through an expulsion program.

Given the likes of Tamerlan Tsarnaev and Dzhokar Tsarnaev, among others and America's overall skittishness when it comes to anything that could potentially be construed as "terrorism," it's little wonder things are playing out the way they are for Kiera. "Zero tolerance" also has a lot to do with it, too.

Most public schools today are big on zero tolerance policies that punitively punish students in this manner. It's a win for administrators who want to maintain ironclad discipline and remain tough in the face of the "post-9/11" environment. When it comes to zero tolerance, there's no nuance, no exceptions and little, if anything, in the way of considerations - in most cases, school administrators will blindly follow policy because it's the path of least resistance (and liability). It's how victims of bullying end up expelled after defending themselves or how students are placed in cuffs for bringing an aspirin to school.

It's how a student with a stellar academic record and a clean disciplinary record may end up with a felony record, something that'll kneecap her education and career prospects right off the bat. Her induction into the annals of the U.S. justice system may snuff out any sort of spark she had before. You don't need a gun to kill  a promising young black person - just shove them into the school-to-prison pipeline using zero tolerance policies and watch as they die an agonizingly slow death.

I can't help but think if any considerations would have been made if she was a bit more "photogenic" in a "mainstream" way. Or maybe if she was a clean-cut male student with a promising future and plenty of remorse for his actions. I just hope that school district administrators and law enforcement officials manage to find some common sense and not railroad a young woman into a bleak future.

  • Compare and contrast the following. First, from Recollections of Slavery by a Runaway Slave:

As long as I can remember, I worked round the house in company with about 20 little boys and girls. We worked in the potatoe patch and cotton patch, and sometimes at the cotton gin; grubbed ground, pulled up roots, raked up chips and threw them on the log heap to burn; and rainy days we worked in the garden and cleared up the trash in the yard. As soon as children get old enough to walk about, they always set them to do something or other. Mistress was very strict, and if we did not do every thing exactly to please her we were sure to get a whipping. An old man whipped us on our bare flesh with hickory switches. A school-master named Cleeton, boarded with her, and used to bring home a great many of them and put them in the chimney to dry. He called them "nice switches to whip the little niggers with." A good many of us were entirely naked and the rest had nothing on but shirts. I never wore any clothes till I was big enough to plough. When they whipped us they often cut through our skin. They did not call it skin, but "hide." They say "a nigger hasn't got any skin."

One day one of the women was planting turnips. She had to sow in rows very regular; but the ground was rough, and when Mallard came by he saw she was scattering the seed. He told her the Devil was in her because she wasted the seed, and if she did not do better, when he came back from the house he would make her. When he came back she had not done any better, and he snatched up a root and knocked her down and kicked her, and then sent a man called Tennant to the house for a whip. Mallard whipped her till he was tired, and then Tennant whipped her. He was so mad he did not stop to tie her up, but beat her about on the ground, and every once in a while hit her with the but end of the whip. They whipped her till she could not scream.

Mallard had a Guinea man who could not understand a word of English, nor understand anything that was said. When the driver whipped him he did not beg like the rest. We always have to say, "Please massa," "Do massa." Master said he would teach "the -- nigger to beg." Then they told him what to say, but he did not understand. He was tied up by his wrists, and they kept beating him till they were tired. They then went into the house to drink and left him hanging there. While they were gone, a woman named Sarah went to him and tried to make him understand how to beg. She said, "Only say 'do massa[']"--and they'll stop whipping."--When they came out they tried a new plan. They took him down and lashed him to a log, and master stood on one side and the driver on the other. They whipped him with cowskins till they cut a great gash in his side that they had to sew up. All the sound they could get out of him was a kind of grunt,--"ugh," "ugh." The next day he went into the woods and staid five weeks before he was caught.

When master missed his wood, he took ten of the slaves and carried them to the camp, and after he had whipped three or four of them, Peter's boy got frightened and informed against his father. They carried Peter to his hut, and tied him up so that his feet could not touch the ground, then tied his feet together and put a great log between them, to keep him stretched tight. Then they whipped him till he fainted twice in the rope. They did not leave off whipping him till midnight. One of the men that kept the door said he "guessed Peter would have to be buried the next day, master whipped him so much." They always say "a nigger is not whipped to do him good, unless he faints." They say "cut into him; a nigger has'nt got any feeling;--there's no feeling in a nigger's hide;--you must cut through his hide to make him feel!"

After they had done whipping Peter, they gave him a dose of salts and put him in the stocks, down in the cellar, where it was so dark, you could not see your hand before you. When any one is put in the stocks a chain is put around his neck with a padlock on it, and the end of it is fastened to a beam of the house. His feet are put into holes between two pieces of wood, which are then bolted down close to his ancles,--his hands are tied, and he has to lie down on his back, without being able to move any part of his body except his head. Sometimes slaves are kept in the stocks two or three weeks, and whipped twice a week, and fed on gruel, because they run away or steal.

    Now watch this.

It's 2013, approximately 148 after slavery's official end and 48 years after basic civil rights were guaranteed for black Americans. In the absence of overseers, bosses and owners, some black Americans insist on whipping one another or barring that, themselves. In the midst of Black History Month, it looks like some folks forgot some of history's most important lessons.
  • I haven't heard anything in the way of new developments regarding the Trayvon Martin case. It's just as well, now that Michael David Dunn is in the news:

A Brevard County man was in jail Monday, accused of shooting a teenager dead in an argument over loud music.

Michael David Dunn, 45, and his girlfriend were in Jacksonville Friday for Dunn's son's wedding when they stopped at a convenience store, Jacksonville sheriff's Lt. Rob Schoonover said.

Jordan Russell Davis, 17, and several other teenagers were sitting in a sport utility vehicle in the parking lot when Dunn pulled up next to them in a car and asked them to turn down their music, Schoonover said.

Jordan and Dunn exchanged words, and Dunn pulled a gun and shot eight or nine times, striking Jordan twice, Schoonover said. Jordan was sitting in the back seat. No one else was hurt. [source]

In short, it's a case of a middle-aged white male who took it upon himself to order a few rowdy Negros into silence. No one's saying what sort of words were exchanged, but I'd bet money there was an N-word or something approximate to that involved. During that exchange, he felt "threatened" enough to unload eight rounds into a parked SUV.

Dunn's attorney Monday said her client acted responsibly and in self-defense. She did not elaborate.

I recognize his attorney's duty to duly defend her client to the best of her abilities. However, I still would like to point out that the above is pure, unadulterated bullshit. I seriously doubt this man acted under any semblance of self-defense. Instead, he let his anger, whether racially motivated or not, take over in the worst manner possible. This should be something worth throwing him under the jail for.

Dunn, a gun collector, was arrested Saturday at his home in Satellite Beach on charges of murder and attempted murder. He was being held without bail.

This man knew better. To sum it up, courtesy of Gawker commentator "otownjester":

You use a gun to kill. You do not pull a gun unless that is your intention. You do not use a gun to intimidate, coerce, or to feel powerful. It is a tool, that we as citizens deserve to have to protect our personal liberties so that any random individual cannot use his might to make right. Growing up, it was very strict how to handle, clean, and use a gun. We never thought oh you can just pull it out any time you are agitated. No. This man like the dude in the Trayvon Martin case were hot heads, irresponsible gun owners, and worse make gun owners appear irrational and violent. This man was a bully and he had no right asking those kids to do shit. If the music was that bad, you call the police... that is their job.

Michael David Dunn used his hand-held might to make his own form of right. He should be made to pay for it and pay for it dearly.
  • What do you get when you spend $5 million $100,000 to make a two-hour movie that encapsulates the average FReeper's views on Islam and its most prominent figure, the prophet Muhammad? If you answered "a clusterfuck," you'd be pretty close.

The correct answer is "Innocence of Muslims." Right now, it's synonymous with "clusterfuck," especially if you've been following the news lately.

Most of the film is spent cementing Muhammad's bonafides as a charlatan, a pedophile, a bloodthirsty heathen and an all around bad guy to hang out with, generally speaking. Poorly produced, poorly acted with nary a redeeming value to be found. According to critics, this is one movie not even the bootleggers would bother with.

When I said "poorly produced" and "poorly acted," I wasn't fucking around. Please note the poor dubbing at various points. Sarah Abdurrahman did and thus cataloged the exact points in the excerpt where the actor's voices are dubbed over.

The people who participated in making this film have already backed away and disavowed it, mostly in disgust. The whole film was a bait-and-switch for the actors and staff - turns out it was supposed to be an action-adventure flick that had nothing to do with Islam, with a completely different script. No one really had any inkling they were gonna be used to birth an anti-Islamic hit piece. It's no wonder much of their dialogue was dubbed over.

If this movie was intended to deliberately piss off Muslims, consider it Mission Accomplished. Protests and riots erupted all over the Islamic world after a two-minute excerpt made its way onto Egyptian television.* In Benghazi, Libya, a U.S. ambassador and three U.S. diplomats were killed when the U.S. Consulate came under attack. U.S. embassies and consulates throughout the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia were attacked and/or raided in one way or another. In short, a major clusterfuck.

Warships are headed to Libya. Drones are being dispatched. Libyan officials are being called on to help bag the people responsible for the attacks, lest they feel the president's sizable wingtip touching their collective prostate. There's no telling what other damage this will do to U.S. diplomatic relations in the region. Clusterfuck.

  • It's not easy being the leader of the "freest" nation in the world, less so if you happen to be a man whose mere skin tone, let alone actual policies, sets off near-homicidal rage in a certain sub-sect of American citizens. Once Barack Obama became President Barack Obama, the number of death threats U.S. presidents usually receive skyrocketed by 400 percent. Each day, the White House receives 30 "love notes" from people who really, really want to extend the president a hollow-point greeting.

There have always been people who wanted to voice their displeasure with the current sitting president via bullet. With President Obama, there's that added dimension of race. No one wants to admit or acknowledge it, but with that crucial piece, the entire puzzle of why some Americans harbor near-demonic rage against this particular president finally comes together.

The loons come in all forms and walks of life. They even come from within our nation's military:

Four Army soldiers based in southeast Georgia killed a former comrade and his girlfriend to protect an anarchist militia group they formed that stockpiled assault weapons and plotted a range of anti-government attacks, prosecutors told a judge Monday.

Prosecutors in rural Long County, near the sprawling Army post Fort Stewart, said the militia group of active and former U.S. military members spent at least $87,000 buying guns and bomb components. They allege the group was serious enough to kill two people – former soldier Michael Roark and his 17-year-old girlfriend, Tiffany York – by shooting them in the woods last December in order to keep its plans secret.

“This domestic terrorist organization did not simply plan and talk,” prosecutor Isabel Pauley told a Superior Court judge. “Prior to the murders in this case, the group took action. Evidence shows the group possessed the knowledge, means and motive to carry out their plans.”

Prosecutors said the group called itself F.E.A.R., short for Forever Enduring Always Ready. Pauley said authorities don't know how many members it had.

I shouldn't be surprised. Many people see the presence of a man of a certain hue as an affront to the sanctity of the Oval Office. Others see it as proof of the worm turning, that somehow the nation's majority ethnicity will find itself in a field humming slow, mournful Nickelback tunes while carrying heavy cotton-filled sacks stitched together from old, worn Abercrombie and Fitch outfits.

On the other hand, many people probably weren't expecting a threat like this. Like I said, from all walks of life:

I wonder what made Donte Jamar Sims think this was a good idea. Not only was he serious "as a Heart Attack" about the threats, he started snigglin' like a Cheshire cat in front of the Secret Service agent until he realized he was goin' to jail, on the real.

Later, however, at a police station, he grew penitent, and wrote an apology letter asserting “he was sorry he sent the messages threatening to kill the President of the United States.”

The self-described #1 Lupe Fiasco fan claimed he was high at the time and “understood what he was doing and that it was wrong.”

It takes all kinds. Honestly, the only thing Donte Jamar Sims needs is a psychiatric workup and to stay the fuck away from whatever he's been smoking, for his own damn good. I'm not even sure this was one of those "Uncle Ruckus" moments...just a "dumbass sherm-head smoking in his living room" moment. Put the fucking blunt down. I doubt he really had the means or the motivation to pull off any threat. Then again, it's never a good idea to underestimate people.

Come Election Day, expect those death threats to triple in number if President Obama wins a second term in office. At this point, surviving every day in office is a blessing and a miracle from above.
  • “Wait a minute, don’t touch my groceries. I can’t have someone negroidal touch my food. It’s against my creed,”
While Texans prepare for a post-Obama re-election civil war and possible UN takeover*, one Texan is making a brave stand against...some black guy bagging his groceries. Seriously.

A Hawkins man is claiming his civil rights and religious freedom were violated earlier this year when a black man sacked his groceries and a Big Sandy grocery store owner banned the customer from the business.

DeWitt R. Thomas filed a federal lawsuit in July against Keith Langston, owner of Two Rivers Grocery & Market.

According to the lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Tyler, Thomas entered the market on March 5 to buy food.

He stated in a nine-page, hand-written lawsuit that he told the grocery sacker, a black man, “Wait a minute, don’t touch my groceries. I can’t have someone negroidal touch my food. It’s against my creed.”

Thomas claimed the cashier was “perplexed” by his request and yelled at him to take his items and leave.

In a telephone interview Wednesday, Thomas said, “It’s pretty simple. They treated me really bad because I told them it was against my creed.”

According to the lawsuit, Thomas went on to explain he meant a black person when he used the term “negroidal.”

If you're wondering what sort of "creed" prevents him from having someone "negroidal" touch his Lunchables and Capri Suns, you're not alone.

Thomas said his religious beliefs are based on Vedism, which he said encompasses Hinduism.

“Vedism translates into knowledge. I am not this way because I am ignorant. Ignorance is the enemy,” he said.

This isn't the first time anyone's attempted to cloak their racial viewpoints in religious doctrine. Consider Mormon views on blacks in the ministry and the old story of how Shem, Ham and Japheth justified black slavery. Sadly, religion has always served as the last refuge of racist scoundrels.

A quick glance of Vedism doesn't seem to bring up any red flags about having "negroidal" folks touch your belongings. My thinking is that this could all be a foundation of bullshit used to springboard an otherwise frivolous lawsuit.

Good on the storeowner for giving this guy the boot. Too bad there are many others just like him, most of them who are just a bit smarter to keep their mouths shut and not embarrass themselves in public.

*It's funny how the same people who'd probably vote for a property tax increase to keep the captivating Kenyan's claws off the country would most likely scream in terror if their taxes were raised for anything else.
  • The following video features Atlanta-based rapper "Booghatti" having a severe disagreement with his producer "Sporty" over selling his song "Like a Kid." I can't wrap my head around why, but it was apparently enough to warrant the following ass whuppin':

When an artist has a dispute with their producer, they often let the lawyers hash things out in court. This one decided to take his dispute "to the streets," resulting in a man literally beaten out of his clothing for some of the most trifling shit imaginable.

One black man beating another over a trivial dispute. I bet not only does this "Booghatti" character feel good about himself for whipping on someone, he'll probably use this incident to further his "street cred." He should hope the man he senselessly beat doesn't decide to "come back" on him in an effort to save face and salvage what's left of his dignity.

Now take this scene and multiply that across the country. There's trifling shit happening in just about every neighborhood over some of the most inconsequential shit possible. That's something that needs to come to an end, before more people get hurt or even killed.

  • When there are laws that effectively gives card blanche to murder someone in cold blood, as long as you claim you were "in fear for your life," exist, you'll get cases like these:

A co-worker who witnessed the shooting said Rainey had knocked on Roop’s door, but received no answer. While Rainey was walking down the drive-way, Roop pulled up in his pickup truck and asked why Rainey was at his house. Rainey explained that he was selling steak and seafood. The witness said Roop then pulled out a black handgun and shot Rainey. As Rainey lay on the ground, Roop fired another bullet into the back of his head. Roop later told police that he shot Rainey in the head “for effect” and that he had three no trespassing signs on his property. Roop said he feared for his life. “I’m not going to give him the chance to do something to me,” he told police. “I was in fear.”

Yeah, he was in fear of being sold bad meat and seafood by a door-to-door salesman.

The good news is 52-year-old Kenneth Bailey Roop was arrested and is now charged with second-degree murder. Apparently he thought SYG would give him card blanche to live out a Gran Torino moment, except Walt Kowalski exercised more self-control than this clown. According to his neighbors, Roop's fantasy of blowing a trespasser off his lawn was a long time coming:

Roop’s neighbors described him as “the neighborhood crazy.” Roop has a concealed weapons permit and approximately 14 firearms.

Those naturally against gun control already have an argument waiting in the wings for stories like these: guys like Roop and the now-infamous James Holmes are the exception, not the rule. Too bad we've been seeing a lot of exceptions lately.

It's ridiculously easy for the ill-tempered and sociopathic to obtain firearms and organizations like the NRA are willing to look the other way while not only claiming these people to be "exceptions," but also politically kneecap anyone who stands up to the organization, never mind how its perceived power is inversely proportional to its actual power:

We do absolutely anything they ask and we NEVER cross them—which includes asking permission to cosponsor any bills endorsed by the Humane Society (the answer is usually no) and complying with their demand to oppose the DISCLOSE Act, neither of which have anything to do with guns. They've completely shut down the debate over gun control. It's really incredible. I'm not sure when we decided that a Democrat in a marginal district who loses his A rating from the NRA automatically loses reelection. Because it's not like we do everything other partisan organizations like the Chamber [of Commerce] or NAM [National Association of Manufacturers] tell us to...

Pandering to the NRA is the probably worst part of my job. I can justify the rest of it—not just to keep the seat, but because I believe most of the positions he takes are consistent with what his constituents want. But sucking up to the NRA when something like Colorado happens is hard to stomach.
I'm not a big fan of gun control, but I absolutely hate how the president bunted on the issue. On one hand, I can understand why he declined to use the Aurora, CO. shootings as a springboard for discussing anything that remotely looks like a renewed push for gun control. On the other hand, he missed an opportunity to have a conversation that's needed having for quite some time.

As long as gun ownership rights trump the rights of folks like Nicholas Rainey to stay alive, we'll keep seeing scenarios like this one play out throughout the country.

  • This past Fourth of July, the fine folks in Winfield, Alabama woke up to the handywork of their friendly neighborhood "Christian organization", that left flyers encouraging the town's white Christians to join them for a Negro-free holiday gathering full of good food, great music and plenty of pro-white propaganda.

The City of Winfield considered issuing steep fines to Christian Identity Ministries for littering.

Gee, I thought Christ's love didn't recognize any ethnic boundaries. Or many religious ones, at that. Then again, when your Jesus looks like this, you kinda expect him to stay on the right (or is that white?) team.

White Jesus, as portrayed in his dressing room prior to his performance at Fred Phelps' Kansas compound.

The city is a bit miffed. They don't want to be associated with any of this shit, and I don't blame them. The only thing that sucks more than a closeted Klansman in a Hardee's bathroom is a bunch of "Christians" using the faith as a cover for their bigoted tendencies. Speaking of which:

According to the flier, the three-day conference, being held in a rural area, will end with a "Sacred Christian Cross Lighting Ceremony."

Welp, at least they saved on the laundry bills. And I'm done.
  • The entire concept of "Stand Your Ground" revolves around having the right to protect yourself and loved ones. However, the actual execution has been remarkably different from the concept. When you have people who deliberately escalate situations in order to justify the use of deadly force, you have to sit back and ask yourself whether keeping something like this on the books is a good idea. As much as some of us would like to extra-judiciously punish car thieves and burglars, it wouldn't be a good idea to sanction stabbing one in the chest for nabbing your car stereo.

As mentioned in the previous post, the latest casualty of "Stand Your Ground," also known by yours truly as the "Empowerment Act for the Removal of Unsavory Negros," is 13-year-old Darius Simmons:

Frightened by the sight of a gun being pointed at him only five feet away from his chest, Darius raised his hand in surrender as Spooner fired one shot into his torso. Scared, wounded and confused, Darius took off running as Spooner aimed and fired another shot, striking Darius in the back.

Simmons had been accused of robbing 75-year-old John Henry Spooner's home, nevermind how the youngster was in school at the time of the alleged robbery. Not that it would have mattered - Spooner was dead-set on making an example out of him anyways.

Meanwhile, there's a unique case involving "Stand Your Ground," this time coming from Boulder, Colorado:

Many questions remain in the matter of Zoey Ripple, the CU grad who was shot after entering the wrong house -- an incident detailed in our original coverage below. But we've got more answers thanks to Boulder Police's release of an arrest affidavit, seen here, which quotes her as saying that after a night spent drinking, she thought she was at a pal's house until a bullet tore into her hip.

According to the affidavit, Timothy Justice and Doreen Orion were asleep in their spectacular College Avenue home -- an abode described in the affidavit as being in a remote section of Boulder accessible by a road on a steep incline. The property is well-fenced and the surrounding area is covered with rocks, trees and bushes, with only the lengthy driveway allowing access to the residence.

Suddenly, the report continues, Orion heard a noise outside the French door of the master bedroom. She initially assumed an animal was causing the ruckus -- at least until she saw a glowing light and watched as an unidentified person entered through a sliding screen door. The couple ordered the person to leave several times, they stressed to officers, before Orion told Justice, "Get the gun," which was conveniently located in a nearby nightstand. He grabbed the weapon, chambered a round and fired toward the light, striking the intruder -- Ripple -- in the hip from a distance of about six feet.

At that point, Justice switched on the bedroom light to see Ripple on the floor at the foot of the bed, incongruously making a cell phone call. An instant later, Orion dialed a phone of her own, punching in the digits "9-1-1."

Unlike Darius Simmons, Zoey Ripple is not an American male of African descent, therefore she wasn't "finished off" by her shooter, nor is the shooting being justified in the media as a "good one." Current media consternation involves whether it's fair for the district attorney to slap her with a trespassing charge after all she went through. Going to the wrong house shitfaced is apparently a tradition among CU students.

Then there's the case of Summer Moody, also not an American male of African descent, who thought it would be a good idea to accompany three of her friends as they trespassed on a private campsite with the intent to rob its occupants. Needless to say, it didn't go well. Unlike Ripple, Moody did not survive.

Before those two cases came up, I figured the best way to put an end to "Stand Your Ground" was to a)have a photogenic young American white woman killed in one of these scenarios, b)have a popular politician meet the same fate somehow or c)have a rash of white Americans killed "in self-defense" by legally-armed black Americans. Considering the response to both cases, I suspect option A has gone out the window.

  • To the left is Patricia Larry. She's holding a picture of her son, 13-year-old Darius Simmons. To the right is 75-year-old John Henry Spooner, accused of murdering 13-year-old Darius Simmons.

The fun loving 6th grader was simply moving a garbage can in front of his home when his neighbor, 75 year old John Henry Spooner confronted him with a shotgun and accused him of stealing from his home. Darius, who was in school the time of the robbery, denied being involved with the theft. John Henry Spooner then proceed to shoot Darius in his chest, while he had his hands raise showing Spooner he was unarmed. His mom, who was watching in horror, ran to Darius to see if she could find a pulse, she couldn’t. Darius, 13 years old and unarmed, was murdered in cold blood in front of his mother.

    Had enough? It gets worse:

According to Milwaukee Alderman Bob Donovan, he had breakfast with Spooner an hour before the shooting and Spooner told him he suspected Darius of the crime and was upset that the police hadn’t done anything about it. Spooner then told the Alderman, that there were other ways of dealing with these problems. That qualifies as premeditated murder of a 13 year old boy. To make matters worse, the family only lived next to Spooner for a month.

You know, I'm not a violent man by nature and I don't condone mob violence or so-called "blood feuds," but it wouldn't pay me no mind to see this man taken off this earth for what he did.

He didn't even bother to talk to the parents. He just put a gun to the kid's chest and just let it rip. That's a coward's move. John Henry Spooner is a complete, yellow-backed coward.

Many people believe that there's no consequence to snuffing a young black life. The general ineffectualness of the justice system and America's card blanche for harming and killing innocent black Americans throughout history seems to back this assertion. It's long since been time to deliver a message to these cowards about snuffing out black lives and it won't take Obama or Eric Holder to do it. Nor is it going to take online petitions or marches. We're long past the point of doing battle in 2012 with 1960s-era tactics.

Something has to give, otherwise people will take this killing and others as a sign that they can get away with this. The shit has to stop here and now.

You're probably asking yourself "how?" So am I. There's no one answer that'll be the magic bullet. At the end of the day, it's gonna take the forced acknowledgement that all life has an equal value. These people won't even give us that common courtesy. Frankly, I believe these people don't want us to exist, period. And that's a big problem.

At the very least, I think I'm gonna move up getting my concealed carry permit a little sooner.

  • The above comes courtesy of otherwise charming gentleman George Tierney Jr. of Greenville, South Carolina. Poor George figured he could get away with calling someone a "dick sucker" and a "cunt" without any repercussions. Being this Twitter, George Tierney Jr. of Greenville, South Carolina's scathing rant was quickly made available to all 36,882 (as of 5/22) of Sandra Fluke's followers and millions of Tweeters all over.

Of course, George Tierney Jr. of Greenville, South Carolina's outburst was bound to hit the blogs. And once George Tierney Jr. of Greenville, South Carolina found that out, he promptly lost his shit:

Whoever runs this site needs to take my damn comments off of it. I did not give you permission, nor did you ask me for it. It shows up on google and I will see a lawyer if this doesnt disappear. Ask me before posting bullshit about me. You fuckers had no right.

    Sincerely,

    George Tierney Jr

You dont get to make the rules. I am the george tierney that made the comments to sandra fluke, not to you..take it off google. If it goes to a lawyer, it will be settled in court, with me getting paid.

    Sincerely,

    George Tierney Jr

George Tierney Jr. of Greenville, South Carolina has no idea how blogs work, how the Internet works or how people don't necessarily need your permission to put your stupidity on display. Teenagers who post naked photos of themselves on Facebook only to find them strewn across the Internet can attest to the impossibility of having Internet content taken down. Perhaps George Tierney Jr. of Greenville, South Carolina should incorporate his person and secure legal and monetary backing from RIAA/MPAA/etc., but lets not give George Tierney Jr. of Greenville, South Carolina any ideas.

George Tierney Jr. of Greenville, South Carolina claimed he was using his "inside voice" and didn't deserve being outed. His "inside voice" is the kind of voice that'd get his mouth washed out with soap as a kid or his teeth punched out of his mouth under some circumstances. Twitter and the Internet in general is usually a safe place for keyboard cowards like George Tierney Jr. of Greenville, South Carolina to safely mouth off.

That's the thing about wielding your First Amendment rights: not only can other people do it, too, but you also have to consider the consequences that follow. George Tierney Jr. of Greenville, South Carolina simply didn't know how that worked, nor did he really know how the Internet worked. And how his name and location will most likely pass on as a slightly memorable meme and as an example of how SEO spam can wreck someone's shit on Google and other search engines. Sucks for George Tierney Jr. of Greenville, South Carolina.

George Tierney Jr. of Greenville, South Carolina should know when to fold and not double down on the stupid, as shown below:

Poor, poor taste, George Tierney Jr. of Greenville, South Carolina. If he issued a half-assed apology about being sorry if Sandra Fluke was offended, closed his Twitter account and stayed off the Internet for a few years, people might forget about George Tierney Jr. of Greenville, South Carolina. Or maybe not. George Tierney Jr. of Greenville, South Carolina is pretty popular on the Internet now that this is out in the open. Maybe George Tierney Jr. of Greenville, South Carolina can get a reality TV show out of this or something.

  • "I have never been so humiliated in my life, all because I wanted a job,"

Like millions of Americans, Tateasa Adams pounded the pavement for a decent-paying job. When Six Flags Over Georgia called her back for a follow-up, she expected a face-to-face interview for a stage performer gig. She didn't expect to be led off in handcuffs.

When an outstanding warrant in Gwinnett County, GA popped up on a background check, Adams admitted to blowing off a traffic court date on account of being at her fiance's bedside as he underwent cancer treatment in Boston. When you're dealing with a loved one who's sick and ailing, you want to be by that person's side and in the process, you tend to blow off things that don't seem as important in comparison. For some, that includes a court date.

She didn't expect park officials to immediately call the police. While some businesses have a stated obligation to ring the alarm on scofflaws, the following is a profile in entrapment:

Six Flags sent Adams an email confirming her appointment on Feb. 29 for a "pre-appointment screen." She was instructed to return to the park "dressed in business attire -- this is an interview." Adams was also told to bring a valid photo identification.

"I arrived early," she said. "When I got there they sat me down in a room with a video camera, took my license, and had me fill out another application."

So park officials not only tricked Adams into showing up for her own arrest, they also stalled for time until the county police showed up. While most people are probably livid over park officials taking it upon themselves to see a scofflaw receive sweet, sweet justice, you'd have to wonder what the overall response would be if Tateasa Adams was Todd Adams, wanted for indecency with a child. I know, it's the "devil's advocate" angle, but you'd have to wonder.

On the other hand, it's still entrapment. Even the folks at the Cobb County P.D. say it's not the purview of some theme park to set up its own law enforcement sting:

“It seems to me a dangerous practice to engineer someone’s arrest,” Buckley told the AJC. “They run the risk of creating unnecessary claims for themselves. It just doesn’t make any sense.”

Adams was taken to Gwinnett County where she made bail and was subsequently released. The kicker?

Adams said she's still looking for work but fears she's already lost out on opportunities due to her arrest record. Her mugshot appears on the first page returned when one does a web search of the name "Tateasa Adams."

"This has been a total nightmare," she said. "I'm not making any excuses for missing the court date. I should've taken care of that. But it's not like I'm some dangerous criminal."
In the U.S., having a criminal record is a scarlet letter that precludes you from any occupation short of "temp worker" and "fry cook," and even I'm not so sure about the latter. I have to wonder if Ms. Adams happened to be of a different hue, would she had been given an opportunity to sort this out on her own. (i.e. seek an attorney, voluntarily turn herself in, etc.)

Thanks to a critical life decision, Tatesia Adams gets to have her literal mugshot at the top of Google's search rankings for her own name. If I were in her shoes, I'd hire these guys to help scrub my name clean, consider filing suit against Six Flags and burnish up that singing career while thinking about what it means to be "self-employed" for the foreseeable future.

  • Does this look like a "little thug ghetto monkey" to you? No? Then chances are you're not a Fox News commentator. Behold the fountain of shit that spewed forth from the comments section of this article:

What a shame—a tragedy, really— because the dead lil’ gangsta could’ve used “‘A-FIRM-TIV AK-SHUN” to go to kollige an play footballz and make lotsa cash munny!”

Fast and Furious didn’t work to pass new gun control so now Eric Holder will try the race card.

No matter how crime figures are massaged by those who want to acknowledge or dispute the existence of a Dirty War, there is nothing ambiguous about what the official statistics portray: for the past 45 years a large segment of bIack America has waged a war of v i o l e n t retribution against white America.

Zimmerman was attacked by the man and defended himself with a gun. Zimmerman’s wounds were verified by police.

    17 = child. LOL!!!!!!

Let the LIB word games begin.

Yet the “justice department” refuses to prosecute any voter intimidation that involves a blac k as the intimidator.

Why should anyone care about this kid? Because he is of color? People don’t value kids period. They are property. BTW, I am a conservative that cares a great deal about kids. We follow hundreds of cases each year, many white babies and children, none of them get attention. But he does??

Zimmerman felt threatened by Martin’s gang’s actions…this could have possibly lead to these terrible circumstances. Gang violence MUST BE STOPPED OBAMA!

Blacks can do no wrong, period! That is the DOJ’s excuse for becoming involved. 50+ years of being told they are special and entitled and the gov’t’s only focus is to make it so!!

In any event, it appears to be a case of one sc u m bag Cuban-type (Zimmerman) offing some scummy b l a ck kid (Trayyy-Vonnnn)…in some trash neighborhood….

but now, because the dead kid’s a kneegrow, we have:

the BIG BAD FBI on this “important” case…and

the usual BLACK-RADICAL-PROTESTERS who can’t mind their own business!

Gated communities exist because people are afraid….& negros thrive on crime…Look at our prisons.

Need that too….But Negr0s only have their welfare checks….and in any event can’t follow rules

What time do the riots start? Gotta get my popcorn and munchies ready for the “hood” burning!

Funny you never see them rally against the drug dealing murderers that control their neighborhoods. LOL!!!

How does anyone know what this 17 yr old said, Most likely he threw the race card out ” you stop me because I*M B L ACK” and then became threatning. The media alway plants the seed of doubt when when a B l ac k is sh ot by a caucasian

maybe his gang brothers incited violence too?

How’d the kid get into the “gated” community in the first place?

    Them monkeys can jump!

This is going to be a tough case. gang violence is hard to prosecute. martin’s gang may even want to retaliate. this is scary

Let’s find out why the “po’ baby” was REALLY there!

The little thug ghetto monkey should have been home doing his homework, not out gang bangin.

I’m just glad Zimmerman didnt miss and hit an innocent bystander.

THIS IS PURE RACIST!! When do you ever see the DOJ investigate the death of a white child??

This is pure B.S I want to see the kids police record even if something is expounged also why was he removed from facebook it says account terminated. Why because his parents are trying to cover his tracks just like if you hit a bus they see Dollar signs.People have dragged data about Zimmerman out where is the kids past.Don’t say he was a good boy prove it.Ask yourself what is more likely to happen any 17 year old kid when you ask a question.A smartass reply I have never and I mean never seen a teenager run unless he did something wrong.I guess no crinimal has ever cased a place when they went to a store. It takes me aback the way all these facts are quoted by people who read one story on a issue.

Who says his gang wasn’t hiding near by?

he could be a good kid, but being in a gang doesn’t help his case

An unfortunate death, but when will DOJ investigate the death of a Caucsasian?

Here we go again— a LOCAL law enforcement matter (no federal issues) is being hijacked by the FEDS because the alleged “victim” is bl a c k! We all KNOW this kid was up to no good and now he’s feedin’ worms. Too bad-ha ha ha!

Last night on CNN Anderson Cooper kept referring to zimmerman as white when he knew he was Hispanic I wonder why

maybe then the kid was not bIack maybe Hawaiian like tiger woods then we can say s p i c s h o o t s Hawaiian

This has Bl ack racist Holder and his all bl ack racist “DOJ Civil Rights Div” written all over it.

    Crack Skittles the new disguise

Skittles actually has a couple slang meanings. Could be referring to recreational usage of Coricidin. Also refers to a male getting lipstick marks from young ladies on the member. Taste the rainbow..

You think the DOJ or main stream will report zimmerman was Hispanic not White

That is all it was — just another n i qq er. No loss

    He was slinging crack.

Is tea and skittles slang for guns and crack.

Skittles is actually slang for recreational usage of Coricidin.

This is what happens when you join a gang. kids need to learn from Martin’s mistakes

They should have a hunting season in Florida for these drug crazed gang members.

This could have had a tragic outcome. His gun could have jammed. Whew!

At least he didn’t chain him to the back of his truck?!?!?

How long will it take to get all of those little blk curly nappys out of the White House bedding so that the next POTUS can sleep without that Creepy Crawly feeling .

The picture is of an innocent choir boy designed to evoke sympathy for the “victum” and justify the skewed actions of a corrupt department of justice.

the b!ack community has created a sense of fear with the excessive amounts of cr!me and v!olence and the glamorizing and glorification of cr!mes and v!olence through c rap music (term used lightly) and most are rude, crude, nasty and give others the tough guy BS attitude. You people (term also used lightly) made your beds and now have to lie in them………don’t be angry with us or blame us you did this all on your own.

    Hunting, maybe thinning the herd…

It is obvious the un-civilized B!ACKS who dwell in the greatist nation on earth have never wanted to be part of the TEAM, they CRY and P!SS and MOAN at every given oportunity about fairness and equality, While lining up for the free ride at welfare.
The United States is cursed with these baboons, Who will never gain the ability to stand up and make it on their own without our help.
They are the eternal retarded stepchild , needfull and helpless until the end of time.

Now the family of the kid has lost there way out of the ghetto.

    ANOTHER TOOKY WILLIAMS, ABORTED.
    GOOD SHOT ZIMMY. lol

Trayvon Martin was not a little "niqqer." He wasn't a thug and he wasn't a gang member. He was a normal, everyday American kid who was executed by a man who saw him as a "threat" for the same reason the Fox News commentators saw him as a "little thug ghetto monkey." It's the perfect example of Extreme Color Arousal, in digital form.

I couldn't be Trayvon's parents right about now. To lose your son over senseless, racially-charged bullshit and stumble upon THIS...

H/T to Little Green Footballs for exposing this. Chances are Fox News will remove the comments section altogether on this story, just as they did when they caught flack for those on the Whitney Houston article.

If this article dealt with the death of a white child at the hands of a white man in similar circumstances and the comments were this acerbic and hateful towards that child and whites in general, those comments would be axed at the first opportunity, out of consideration for the family of that slain child.
  • This town is starting to look like a garbage heap. And we got too damn many niggers urban thugs, yo, ruining the quality of life for everybody. And I'll tell you what it's gonna take. You people, you are - you need to have a gun. You need to have training. You need to know how to use that gun. You need to get a permit to carry that gun. And you do in fact need to carry that gun and we need to see some dead niggers thugs littering the landscape in Atlanta.

The above quoted, slightly modified for translation purposes, comes from Rush Limbaugh-clone Neil Boortz. Like many Americans, Boortz suffers from a severe case of Extreme Color Arousal, a condition nurtured by generations of subtle societal and tribal indoctrination and propaganda against black Americans* and triggered by the mere sights and sounds of black Americans, black American culture or practically any action or event caused by or stemming from black Americans. Combined with the negative preconceived notions that many white Americans have of their fellow black citizens plus the need for politicians and businesses to nurture and illicit both emotion and compliance from voters and customers with "dog whistles" and coded language, Extreme Color Arousal can manifest itself in a number of ways.

Take the sad case of Trayvon Martin, for example. The sight of a young black man in a grey hoodie aroused negative emotions within George Zimmerman. His own possible bias of blacks in general, his association of blacks with criminal behavior ("they always get away") and his desire to rid the neighborhood of the scourge of black criminality led him to stalk, corner and kill an innocent young man. That's Extreme Color Arousal in action, folks.

There are countless cases where cops have allowed Extreme Color Arousal to override their training and judgment, prompting them to treat black Americans in their custody with a far heavier hand than those of other ethnic backgrounds, if they're not killed outright. The NYPD's "Stop and Frisk" campaign targets far more black American citizens than other ethnic groups, thanks to officers operating on their own preconceived notions and color arousal, or on an institutional bias that promotes color aroused behavior. Other police departments around the country carry a biased attitude towards black Americans that often results in their rough treatment or even death.

Then there's the reaction of many Americans to President Barack Obama. Sadly, there are some who simply cannot cope with the sight and knowledge of a black man** in the Oval Office or any other loft position of power, for that matter. Paula Smith could not cope with having President Obama in office, hence her small but telling way of lashing out in a fit of Extreme Color Arousal.

One of the many tell-tale signs of Extreme Color Arousal.

This "2012 Don't Re-nig!" sticker is just one of many ways that Extreme Color Arousal manifests itself. Given that overt racism is no longer acceptable in polite social circles, those expressing their dissatisfaction with niggers thugs and criminals employ coded language. This way, bigoted individuals have a way of shielding themselves from the criticisms of those who can "crack the code." Plausible deniability and feigned innocence/ignorance are those shields.

Extreme Color Arousal stems from a pathological fear and dislike of black Americans, reinforced by negative portrayals and associations of blacks as criminals, thugs, "beasts," and other entities who should be, of course, feared and loathed. For some, the only way for them to feel safe is to grab a gun and be prepared to shoot any nigger criminal who makes them "fear for their life," so they can "take back" the city.† This sort of paranoia never ends well.

The entire nation seems to be gripped in this paranoia. People like Boortz are only the visible symptoms of a serious, deeply embedded problem that's crippling this nation.

    * Many white Americans have been trained and indoctrinated to see black Americans as somehow inferior to themselves, as justification for slavery and later the economic and social segregation of black Americans. It also served to divide poor whites against their poor black brethren, to prevent both from joining forces in protest against major societal and economic interests.

** Obama comes from mixed heritage, but as far as many Americans are concerned, he's a black man. Thank the "One Drop Rule" for that one.

Some white Americans see the rise of black Americans to prominent positions of power as a sort of zero-sum game -- blacks gain power while whites lose power. Combine the rise of black-led and largely black-managed cities with serious tax funding issues from suburban flight, exacerbated social issues, constant association of black-led and managed governments with corruption, crime and failure and a "us vs. them" mentality that effectively separates suburban commuters from their city-dwelling counterparts, and you have scores of whites believing that 1)their cities were somehow "conquered" by blacks and 2)therefore need to be "taken back" (which usually means having a "proper" government put in its place, one that just happens to be all-white and possibly all-conservative).
